J is very picky :( I'm struggling with getting him to eat anything other than purees. He will eat cheese sticks but that is seriously the ONLY solid that he will eat. He just wants purees spoon fed to him :(

I think I gave her a big chunk of banana around 7 months (she started solids at 4.5). Around 10 months I gave things like pancakes, rice cakes, toast, and she does ok with them. She's 11 months now and likes to feed herself bite sized items. She initiated the move from purees herself.

DS is almost 22 months old and I still cut most things for him. We've been giving him whole bananas for a long time but we cut them in half. We didn't start giving him cheese sticks until closer to 18 months but I think he would have been fine a little earlier.

I just started giving E (12 months in a week) a half slice of toast to naw on, a banana, a slice of quesadilla and she has done really well. She does love to take big bites though so I have to watch her carefully.

Depends on the food. Lo is 22 months and I still cut most things. Not bananas though, so bites into those. She got her teeth late, she still doesn't have all of them, so I'm extra paranoid about that stuff.

haha... that still very rarely happens at 3.5 years old!! ;) He's so antsy at mealtimes now, it usually helps him eat more if we cut everything up for him.

That is...without cutting it up for them?

My Mom is in town and offered our lo a cheese stick and a banana and she went to town on both. I, of course, was freaking out just thinking about it but M did pretty good. She used her front teeth to shred the cheese and to bite off of the banana.

She's 11.5 months old
