@Mrs. Carrot: I thought primary was a lot longer and skinnier than gap- gap still tend to be too long for my kids but not way too much.

I sized up in Prinary for my 2nd percentile height 3 year old and there was literally 4 extra inches of leg 😂 (but she’s really short).

@MrsSRS: she's not a fan of waistbands like that and prefers more fit than the joggers offer so those haven't worked except in some situations, like putting them over her ballet or gymnastics uniforms.

@SweetCaroline: @Foodnerd81 thank you both on the Primary. I ordered two pairs to try but that's good to know. My kid is the literal opposite - short and round lol so they may not work but I did size up too so we'll see. I'm having that challenge with pants for her a lot - everything seems to be made for long and skinny and not much for the shorter/rounder kids.

@FoodNerd81 the Gap ones might be the thick ones I was thinking of from last year, thanks! I rarely shop there cuz they too tend to run long and skinny but I wonder if my mom bought them for us at some point...

Boden also makes thick leggings- “cozy”. Not fleece!

@Mrs. Carrot: heads up... @Foodnerd81: is absolutely right....Primary is long and skinny. They fit my kid the best of any and she is in 90th+ percentile for height and 30th percentile for weight. I never think to mention that is why i keep going back to them.

Gap has these terry lined leggings- not as warm as fleece lined but thicker than regular. My 6 year old who hates jeans likes them.

Primary runs long and skinny, FYI. Good quality but they just aren’t a good fit for my kids.

My kid wears snow pants at recess when its 20/30 outside.

Primary has some "cozy leggings" that are nice and thick.

@Mrs. Carrot: same! But my kid also complains about cold hands when we walk to school but immediately takes her gloves off when she gets outside for recess because they “mess her up” on the monkey bars. So we can’t win!

Can you get her some splash pants to pull on over top for recess and walks to school? My kids love them. Makes them feel like they can splash and roll etc but stay clean ish underneath haha

@Madison43: I'll check those out, thanks! I definitely don't want to double up unless it's on a weekend hike or something; for school it would be too much. She does complain sometimes when we walk to school that her legs are cold, but I imagine she doesn't notice as much during recess. I just feel weird sending her out in sub-freezing temps in the same thing she wears when it's 50s lol

Jcrew has thicker leggings - I think they are called cozy leggings; and Hanna Anderson has one line of leggings that is pretty thick too - I can’t remember the name but I always have to size up because they are thick and tight. I probably wouldn’t double up? That seems like it would be a huge PITA during bathroom breaks. And also, if she’s not complaining about the colds I probably wouldn’t worry too much. I think about this too but they aren’t outside for too much and they are usually running around so are warmer than we think!

My 6.5 year old has hated jeans for years (no waistbands, no seams), and recently started protesting soft jeggings as well. The only pants she'll really wear is leggings, which is fine most of the time, but it does get cold on occasion here (VA) and I want her to wear something a little warmer for recess/outside activities when it's in the 20s/low 30s. Unfortunately anything fleece-lined is also out because she runs warm and fleece makes her sweat almost on contact. Anyone find anything else that's warmer than typical leggings but not jeans/jeggings/fleece-lined? A few years ago Kohls and Children's Place had thick leggings that worked really well for her but I haven't seen them since then :( Doubling up regular leggings and light sweats is my current idea but that gets cumbersome at school so I'd like to find something she can wear on its own.
