We have never really done a "kids meal" menu so to speak. My boys have always eaten what the grown ups eat since they started table food.

However my youngest hates potatoes unless they are French fries and prefers his veggies either cold or covered in ketchup.

Some of our favorite foods here are: roasted chicken with broccoli and rice, fajita soup, one pot dinners (jamabayla, gumbo, any soup), meatloaf and kale, pretty much anything with kale. My kids are kale eating machines.

Wow! That spagetti pie look so delicious!!! I am afraid I'd chow it down all by myself lol

It depends on how old your child is I think.... My child is 4.5 years old now and will eat a lot of grown up food (and also not eat a lot of grown up food like chili, curry...etc).

For protein he loves meatloaf A LOT. Other go-to things such as baked orange chicken wings, then these two:

http://damndelicious.net/2015/06/01/teriyaki-salmon-and-broccoli-bowls/

http://damndelicious.net/2015/02/28/baked-honey-sesame-chicken/

For us, any type of baked salmon, cod, chicken, pork chops, shrimp, is an acceptable choice by DS as long as it is not spicy.

I'll just make one carb and one veggie to go with it - usually I'll boil a pasta and steam a veggie up top, or rice in rice cooker, and either bake a veggie with the meat, or boil corn (corn is a HUGE hit for us).

Other ideas such as burger and sweet potato baked fries (which took us several times for him to understand and eat), pasta with puttanesca sauce (http://www.food.com/recipe/linguine-with-fresh-puttanesca-sauce-68642), Omurice (ketchup fried rice wrapped in an omlette, japanese dish). That's all I can think of for now...

I so wish he would eat curry, or anything that is a bit spicy, potatoes and sweet potatoes as is (not disguised in fries), and tomatoes. That will open up so many doors....! I haven't tried spagetti pie, lasagna...etc. because I am a tad bit afraid I went through hoops to make it and he'd end up not eating it!

My kid loves rice and is just learning how to use utensils so we eat a lot of one pot "slop" lately. Risotto, fried rice, jambalaya, beans and rice, pilaf - anything I can stick veg and meat into in one dish that he can shovel into his mouth. So far no one has complained about the menu.

This week we had mushroom risotto with spinach and chicken, jambalaya with chicken and pork, chicken fried rice with veggies and eggs, and tonight I think I'm doing small shell pasta with bolognese.

My kids really like roasted chicken with sweet potatoes and broccoli.
Also, scrambled eggs with veggies and sausage.
Rotini with cream sauce and spicy shrimp and peas is also a hit.

Great post! I am always looking for suggestions for dinners that kids will eat (without being a kids meal).

Our kids really like Salmon and meatloaf. And breaded fried pork chops but those aren't really any healthier than a chicken nugget.

I just made this spaghetti pie with kale instead of broccoli rabe and it was delicious: https://smittenkitchen.com/2016/01/spaghetti-pie-with-pecorino-and-black-pepper/

The next day I cut it into thin slices and my one year old gobbled it up. I'd love more recipes adults and toddlers will like. Anyone have anything good?
