We live in the frozen north and keep the house cold at night in the winter (about 45 - 50). We have never used a sleep sack as I was unable to find one that looked like it was designed for use below 70 degrees. Our LO slept in a patagonia down bunting that was basically a sleeping bag with a hood and arms during our cold months. Under the bunting she had cotton pj's and a fleece vest and wool socks. She grew out of patagonia's largest bunting just before her 2nd birthday and we switched to a thick hanna anderssson fleece suit over cotton pj's and made her a crib sized flannel lined thinsulate sleeping bag. The sleeping bag is sized to fit her crib and has the top flap folded back and stitched so her face is always out. Sometimes she crawls out of the sleeping bag before she falls asleep but we just slide her in when we go to bed and she always stays in until morning. She has been snug as a bug in both set ups and always has warm fingers and nose when we check on her.
Now that it is getting a bit warmer we will start ditching the fleece suit and just put her down in cotton pj's and a fleece vest with the sleeping bag. We'll just keep peeling back the layers as it gets hot.

My 2.5 year old has always just slept in jammies. In the winter he wears long pant jammies and socks. I've tried putting a blanket or quilt in with him but he usually asks us to take it out. Like PPs I figure if he was too cold he would not want it out. He does ask for socks so he knows what he's doing I guess.

My 28 month-old has never used a sleep sack and sleeps very well in fleece footed pj's (wish I had figured this out in the early days!). He has just started using a blanket this week when we moved him to the big boy bed, but doesn't really need it- he just likes getting tucked in all cozy :)

I would put a blanket, but it never stayed on. LO was usually layered well so he seemed comfortable.

We literally just ditched the sleep sacks last week at 16 months because it's flipping hot and we have no AC. I put an a&a blanket on her but it doesn't stay on at all. It's so hot, she's just in a diaper. When winter comes, I'll have her back in footed jammies.

We haven't used a sleep sack since 6 months! In the winter we just put her in footed sleepers and now that it's roasting in CA ill just out her in a onesie or tshirt. If the weather calls for it I will put a blankie over her tummy but it never stays there. The temperature in our house is comfortable though and we've never had a problem!

We haven't used a sack since LO was 8 months. We just monitor the temp on the room and he sleeps in a footed sleeper totally fine. He is 18 months now

I never go back in to put the blanket on. We make sure her room is at a temp that the blanket doesn't really matter.

Now that it's warm I don't bother putting it over if she kicks it off. I guess I just dress her as if she's not going to have a blanket, so lately a long sleeve and long pants cotton jammies.

We put it on him when he goes to bed. I've never gone to put it back on, but he doesn't move much in his sleep. I figure that if he is cold he will figure it out or for that fact if he is warm he will figure out how to get it off.

Same as @locavore_mama:, we just try to keep him cozy with an undershirt and fleecy PJs. His bedroom gets so cold that we even used a space heater during the polar vortex nights (ugh, but I was so nervous!) This crazy little kid doesn't sleep in one position for longer than five minutes, no blanket stands a chance ;)

She just wears a footed sleeper. We don't put a blanket in there, since she's a crazy sleeper & would never keep it on. She's always fine.

I always leave the room with blanket on her but it never stays on. In the winter I just put her in a short sleeve onesie and fleece footed pajamas. She's nice and toasty but runs hot.
Not sure what we'll do this coming cold season!

DD is 26 months and learned how to take off her sleep sack, she has been doing it now for a week straight. Taking it off and throwing it over the crib railing.
We decided to ditch the sleep sack and just use a blanket but she is crazy in bed and the dang blanket never stays on. Thankfully it's been warming up and I think she's fine with just her long sleeve jammies- but what do you guys do- leave as is or go in their all night to put a blanket on your LO?
