@Mrs Lemon-Lime

Honeyfund is a registry but we only used it for payments towards our honeymoon and experiences.

I'm confused isn't Honeyfund.com a registry?

SimpleRegistry sounds like MyRegistry.com. I like the idea of one stop shopping that you can place all the items you like from whichever store or site you like.

I used myregistry.com ... It's great, but older people I know have had trouble with it. I would probably use a different one if I had to choose again.

I was concerned about having an amazon registry, but so far it seems like my BRU and Amazon registries are getting the same amount of purchases! (Trying not to look at what exactly.. lol!)

It's kinda nice though since some people can go into a BRU and shop traditionally or go on amazon and pick something up thats a little different.

I like the idea but for some relatives it might make it more complicated?

I did have a cousin who didn't register at all but instead asked through the host of her shower for "handy" gifts, there was a cute little poem that suggested hand me downs, second hand or hand made gifts.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do, I am curious since we probably will only do a small shower and otherwise celebrate in non-traditional ways.

@BronxvilleBump: I used MyRegistry.com which is pretty similar. It was easy for all of my young, internet-savvy friends/family. Some of my older family/friends had some issues with it, but it ended up working out because those people ended up getting things that were easy for them to pick up in stores (babies r us and Target). I think it would be best to do the Simple registry and then one old school registry for older and/or less-internet savvy folks.

We hardly had anyone buy anything off our Amazon registry - instead we got 2 or 3 copies of everything on our Target registry, so I don't think we would have had much luck with anything that was more complicated or non-traditional.

@Chitownro thanks for the honesty! I was a little worried about that also (with older family me members) but our grandma's are pretty Facebook/computer savvy. I will try some of these non-traditional registries out to see which one is easier to purchase from..not too many steps. Good point!

My friend used a similar registry... it was a little cumbersome for the gift-giver with multiple steps. I could see older family/friends being overwhelmed with it.

First I was the the "Non Traditional" bride....skipped the parties, showers, registry etc etc....

Now that we are expecting our first baby it looks like I won't be able to totally get away with the skipping of parties & gifts (of course I don't mind as much this time, all for the baby).

For our wedding we did Honeyfund.com and it was awesome! Our friends and family helped pay for our 1 month honeymoon traveling around Europe with tons of unique experiences.

I was trying to find the same type of thing for a BABY REGISTRY, and I came across SimpleRegistry.com. It allows people to purchase gifts from ANY store (amazon, target, etsy, buy buy baby, etc) directly off the website or take it off the list and buy it on their own (for a cheaper price). It also allows guest to donate money towards a big priced gift (stroller, car seat) or contribute to unique things like babysitting, doula, baby photo-shoot or whatever we may need help paying for the first year.

Has anyone done any Non Traditional Registries before like Simple Registry? Did it work out ok?
