@Chuckles: @MLE81: Awesome points! And I have been doing the Greek yogurt ranch for years and it’s awesome.

I’m 3-months in and will echo what a lot of people have said so far about color designation. Here are a few of my fave snacks with yellow or green foods:

Nonfat Greek yogurt with fruit and cinnamon (all green)
Van’s power grain waffle with low fat cream cheese (both yellow)
Toasted Stonefire ancient grain mini naan with low sugar marinara and low fat cheese (teeny pizza with all yellows and greens) - I often pair this with a salad for lunch but it’s a good TV snack at night too
Bagel thins and low fat cheese cheese (both yellow)
Laughing cow light cheese wedges are yellow, I pair these with sliced apple, a toasted bagel thin, or veggies to dip
Sliced turkey lunch meat with apples or light cheese

I do try to meet my red goal every day (and often am over) because I know there are healthy options within that group and I want to make sure I feel satisfied and not restricted.

@Chuckles: This!

I honestly hardly pay attention to the colors anymore. I think it's great at the beginning to get an idea but it really is about getting the "biggest bang" for your caloric buck.

Just keep in mind that the color rankings are just about caloric density, not necessarily nutrition. So like, whole wheat bread is a green food, even though my bread has 110 calories per slice, but hard boiled eggs or turkey meatballs are yellow. And all nonfat dairy is green, but any dairy with fat is yellow or red. So I've been following the colors overall, but if I'm staying in the calorie count and mostly eating healthy, I haven't worried as much about going over in the yellow or red zones if I feel like the foods that are putting me over have been healthy (like cheese, avocado, beans, nuts, etc).
Having said that, I really like mixing in ranch dressing powder into nonfat greek yogurt and using it as a veggie dip. And just adding in any veggies that you like to meals to bump up the volume of food to make it filling. For breakfast, I usually do a whole wheat english muffin, fruit, and a hard boiled egg or two. If you cook your oatmeal with water or nonfat milk, it's a green food. I'll keep trying to think of other green foods that have been good.

For at least the first few days to a week, it seemed like most of the foods I was eating/logging were “red”, too. I knew my diet wasn’t great, but it was still eye opening. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself by trying to completely overhaul my diet all at once, so I paced myself and started by changing what I have for breakfast each day. It used to just be cereals like Rice Krispies or Special K with milk (but I think both of those cereals are either “yellow” or even “red”), or some instant oatmeal with brown sugar (also a “red” food, I believe). And I always had a small glass of OJ for breakfast, which I now rarely ever do, anymore. Just water and then a coffee after school drop off ;)
So I found a few relatively easy/quick breakfast recipes I liked in the Noom database - Mixed Berry Muesli (minus the cantaloupe as I don’t have time to hollow out a cantaloupe in the morning!), the Banana-Apple and Nut Oatmeal, and the Egg-Cheddar-Chutney Muffin Sandwich. I generally save these ones for weekends, and most weekdays I try to just have oatmeal with cinnamon and some mixed berries.
For lunch I’ve made a few of the soups and particularly like the Carrot Ginger one.
For dinner I just eat whatever we’re having as a family, but try to limit how many carbs/starches I’m having, substituting more veggies or small side salads when/where possible. There are a few recipes for side salads in the Noom recipe database, also.
Hope at least some of this was helpful, but feel free to ask any additional questions!

I signed up for Noom based on the rave reviews from the other thread. Can any experienced noomers share your favorite foods, and meals that use mainly green and yellow foods? So far it feels like everything I eat is red! I’ve done WW in the past but never tracked calories so that is new to me too! Thanks!
