@HappyBluebird: I'm sorry for the loss you've had. I was on regular BC before becoming pregnant and have been on Nora-Be since having my son (2 years now). I also found it eliminated the headaches I had previously had and I feel like my sex drive is fine (post-baby it was low, but I don't think that was the pills). We don't use a 2nd form of protection and I'm pretty good about taking it everyday. I don't know what it'll be like going off it though!

@HappyBluebird: So sorry for your loss.

I was on a different progestin-only pill (Errin) for over a year because regular BCPs messed with my blood pressure and gave me headaches. I had no issues, and I just made sure I took it at the same time every day (cell phone alarm worked like a charm). One benefit for me was that I had really light/no periods while taking it. I didn't have any adverse side effects. I'm getting a Mirena next week but I would have also been happy with going back on the progestin-only pill, too!

@Bubbles: Thanks, Hmmm, I'll have to keep an eye on the sex drive side effects. It's really the only reason I'm not going back on nuvaring. I didn't really think about it at the time either but it was a drastic change when I went off. DH couldn't believe it

@MrsScottish: Thanks for the advice and congrats on your almost new arrival! Good to see the low sex drive and other side effects don't affect everyone.

I was on a progesterone only pill for 2-3 years after getting my iud removed. I have tried almost all options for bc in the last 15 years and that was by far my favourite. I plan on going back on it after baby comes ( currently 38 weeks). I liked that the side affects I got from a full/ dual hormone pill did not occur ( low sex drive, tired, cranky, super emotional). It did not regulate my period, but I was used to my shorter cycles so I was ok with that. No, it is not as affective as the dual hormone, and you have to take it at exactly the same time of day for it to be affective but I was pretty good with that.

So sorry for your loss.

I took a progesterone only pill called cerazette for 8 years solid before coming off it to TTC. You do have to be careful to take it at the same time each day - I had an alarm set on my phone to make sure I did. Mostly I really liked this pill, I had about 3 periods per year which were very light. When I came off it, it took a month for my period to come back, and we conceived the following month.

One thing Id say to watch out for though is it killed my sex drive. I didn't even realise this until I came off it, as I had been taking it since teenage years! I don't think that's a reason not to give it a try though

@LBee: thanks  I plan on setting an alarm to make sure I take it each day so I think that will help. I'm glad to see someone liked it.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I took Nora-Be and loved it. I was perfect about taking it and had no trouble getting (and staying) pregnant when I got off it. I don't get a period while on it, which is an added bonus too!

You have to be 100% committed to taking it at the same time, though. Otherwise it's just not a great form of protection.

@autumnlove: Thanks, while that's certainly do-able my husband would prefer we don't have to go that route. We've been using condoms while waiting for the results and he hasn't been too happy with it  But if need be that's a route we could go.

@fancyfunction: Thanks for the response and the advice! I figured it might not regulate cycles but I didn't think about skipping one here and there. I'll be getting regular HCG levels so I don't think it should be a problem I would stress over.

I took a progestin-only pill for years with no issues. My dr. proscribed it b/c the regular pill was affecting my blood pressure and also giving me terrible headaches. The only thing is that it doesn't help to regulate cycles so I would get my normal, heavy period on it and randomly skip a month here or there (which is normal on that kind of pill).

I used Nora B but I still used condoms a lot because I'm not very good at remembering to take it at the same time. It has a high user failure rate.

I was prescribed Nora-Be today and I'm looking for anyone who has used it and their experience.

A little back story....

I had a miscarriage in September and it was found to be a molar pregnancy. Because of that, we must wait at least 6 months before TTC again. I was on Nuvaring for somewhere around 5-6 years prior to TTC. I loved the nuvaring but I had absolutely no sex drive on it. Sex was a chore and obviously that didn't make my husband very happy! After going off birth control my sex drive came back so I'm certain it had to do with birth control. Because of this my dr prescribed Nora-Be which is a progestin only pill. I read some reviews online and I saw a good amount of reviews where women got pregnant and then miscarried because of the pill (Not sure if this is accurate, as I read it on the internet of course) I am absolutely terrified to have another m/c.

Anyone have any experience with it? Good or bad. I haven't started it yet as I'm still waiting for my first period post d&c. I have an appointment with my dr to address my concerns but was just looking for some information in the mean time. Thanks!
