@catomd00: Green and frothy isn't really a reason to get alarmed either, if it's not happening every time. Occasional imbalance is okay.

Poop looks normal to me!

Normal. Only worry if it's green and frothy (fore milk hind milk imbalance) or white. If white, seek medical attention immediately!!

Looks normal, but for ease of mind, definitely just bring a dirty one to your next pediatrician's appt. They can test it really quickly. Btw when our LO's MSPI was at its worst, it had black flecks (like coffee grounds) and at one point turned almost completely black. You could definitely tell at that point that something was wrong.

@SeptMomma12: looks normal to me!

We had a cows milk protein intolerance (confirmed by having the doctor test a poopy diaper for blood...then re-tested 2 months later after I had been dairy free and found no blood). For us, mucus looks like an adult with a bad cold blew their nose in the diaper -- like tons of "boogers" along with the poo.

@T.H.O.U.: No, not really. She's a pretty easy-going baby. I tend to get very anxious about everything breastfeeding-related, and combined with her congestion/clawing at her face, I worry it's an allergy. But a friend just pointed out the reason they make baby mitts is because all babies claw at their faces.

@SeptMomma12: I would just bring a dirty diaper along with you to the appointment next week and let your ped check it out. As long as your LO doesn't seem to be miserable or in pain, which doesn't seem to be the case, it's nothing that can't wait a week. Just be prepared that if the doc thinks an allergy is possible he's likely to suggest you cut dairy and soy as those are the most likely culprits. If he says to cut just dairy I personally would really recommend cutting soy too (Something like 60% of babies with dairy intolerance also have soy intolerance). It can take as long as 4 weeks to really notice a difference since dairy can hang out in your body for so long and it has to completely get out of your system and then out of baby's system. Since it takes so long, it can be frustrating to wait 4 weeks, see no improvement, and then start again with cutting soy. Easier to just cut them both, see how she does, and then if you see an improvement, try to add soy back and see whether she reacts.

@Truth Bombs: @Adira: It does stretch a little. Always has, even with her normal yellow poop. Is that mucus then? We have a pediatrician appt next week, so I'll definitely bring it up.

@Adira: Correct but if it's an ongoing issue it's more likely to be from an allergy. That's why I suggested she follow up with her ped to have him determine the most likely cause.

@Truth Bombs: With regards to mucus, it also could just be caused by being sick. My LO sometimes has mucusy diapers when he has a cold.

It looks like it might have some mucus in it. The easiest way to tell is to push the two sides of the diaper together and then pull them apart slowly and see if you notice any stringy mucus being stretched out. If not, you're good. If you do, probably worth checking with the ped if he thinks the mucus could come from an allergy. When we were sorting out all of our allergy issues the ped wanted me to bring in fresh dirty diapers for him to check out.

I can't believe I'm posting this on the Internet, but I need to stop stressing. I am concerned that my LO could have a sensitivity to something I'm eating because I feel like her poop does not look normal. DH thinks I'm crazy. Does this look like normal EBF poop? She's 8 weeks old.

She doesn't have any rashes or anything and is generally a pretty happy baby. But she does seem a little congested after eating and is always clawing at her face/ears (which DH is also trying to tell me is a normal newborn thing), so I am concerned that could point to an allergy as well.

Please talk this mama down. I stopped BF'ing my son around the same age because I was stressing myself out so much (and he was a miserable baby), but I don't want to do that this time over nothing.
