Today she pooped once and peed twice at school. The only girl younger than her went on the potty so they told DD this and she went. No fussing. Didn't even use a diaper at nap time! She just didn't want to be upstaged.

I'd say it's control/emotional too. DD didn't potty train till 3.5 but she pretty much did it overnight and has never had an accident. She has known and has gone pee/poop since before 3 but you just could not tell her what to do and when to do it :silly:

@Bluemasonjar: Rather than asking her "do you have to go potty" we tell her "don't forget to tell us when you have to go". Sure enough she will be playing or cuddling and announce she has to go. I am honestly surprised at how well it works. We could not get her to go before we told her it was her job to let us know.

I would keep trying to have her go in other places to make her more comfortable using potties away from home. My DS is a little over a month into potty training and I have him comfortable going at restaurants, the zoo, etc. At school I took him to the potty myself at drop off/pick up a few times to help him get comfortable there.

I’m interested in how you got your DD to tell you when she needs to go. We are struggling with that. If we put him on the potty every hour or so he will go and stay dry the rest of the time but will have an accident if we get off schedule... so frustrating!

@Dahlia: Any time you ask her why she does or doesn't do something she just always answers "because I do" or "because I don't". The toilet seat has the paint worn off in a couple of places.. that is really the only thing that is different.

And yes! She is finally going at home! We used Brandi Brucks three day method where you tell LO to tell you when they have to go instead of just putting them on the toilet. Day two she was daytime trained.

@Ms. RV: Also, last time you posted she wouldn't pee on the potty at all, right? Congratulations on her getting it at home!!!

She'll get it!

Have you asked her why she won't go at school? Is the toilet seat a different shape? Does the bathroom have a loud fan?

My guess though would be three year old control issues. DD has been known to hold it for her whole seven hour day at school. She's also refused to eat all day when in a bad mood. She's the same age as your DD.

Before DD (3y 2mo) could not pee. If we put a diaper on her after she wouldn't pee on the potty (but clearly had to) she had troubles even releasing in the diaper.

Now she goes potty at home. Pee and poop with essentially no accidents. She tells us when she needs to go and then goes. She will not go if prompted.

She will not go at daycare. She will cry and scream for ten minutes on the potty and then stand up and immediately pee her pants. I thought it was a home vs. daycare thing until she peed in a Porta Potty today.

Both daycare and home are real toilets, no trainer seat.

Someone please tell me that eventually she'll put it together :bummed: Daycare is frustrated but willing to work with her accidents. Thank goodness she peed on the field trip today or I swear they wouldn't believe me that she is home potty trained!
