@CoffeeMom: that surprises me with your history. MFM was very adamant that it would keep me from going into preterm labor again. I think it is best to start between 12 and 16 weeks, if I remember correctly. And my MW taught us how to do it at home so it was a bit easier.
I hope the tight feeling stops! I remember that all too well with DD very early on.

@LBee: @nana87: @MsMini: Thank you so much for sharing your positive experiences with me!!

@Iced Tea: Thank you!

@muffinsmuffins: I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties with the first pregnancy. It is so hard to go through something like that! It is kind of nice to know that someone else feels like I do though. Best of luck throughout this pregnancy!!

@2littlepumpkins: Thank you for sharing!

@pinkb: We are not doing progesterone injections at this point.

DD I was in bedrest at 32 weeks until 36 weeks when I had her. But with DS I was in progesterone injections to avoid the same thing happening and it worked had him at 40 weeks with no problems. Are they doing the injections for you?

Mine was worse the second time around in that I had other non related medical issues putting me in a lot of pain and at some points putting my baby at risk. But really, pregnancy wise, the third was more difficult. ☹️ BUT for some reason it also seems my girl pregnancies had more nausea and that's a big part of it.

This post makes me feel so much less alone! DW is almost 16 weeks with our 2nd and we had a hard pregnancy with DS: severe morning sickness, fluid issues, cord issue warranting MFM, then PPROM at 35 weeks. It was super stressful and I’m starting to get nervous of PPROM again. I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that pregnancy and birth is just a crap shoot that I can’t control. So far this pregnancy is so different already but I can’t help but think of the previous experience. I’m trying to just live in the moment and not jump ahead, to put faith in our OB that they will do everything they can. So I guess solidarity in the worry! Fingers crossed for us both.

My first was by far my most complicated pregnancy. I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum, I puked until delivery, I had PIH that was medicated and I was off work, on modified bedrest from week 34 until delivery, then was induced for reverse end diatonic cord flow which led to an emergency c-section for profound fetal distress. My second was better, only severe morning sickness, and was able to wean off of anti-emetics eventually (at 28 weeks) and my PIH didn't require medication until 36 weeks. My third was the easiest. I had moderate morning sickness, and my PIH never required medication. My second and third were booked c-sections so much easier than a failed induction and emergency c-section but thats neither here nor there.

I wish. If the second had been easier, then we might have gone for a third. I can't imagine how we'd survive another difficult pregnancy with two small kids, so we are done. I hope it goes better for you this time.

I would imagine it would vary so much by what the issue was, and whether it’s likely to recur again. Not the most serious issue, but I had problems with my fluid levels with my first pregnancy and was monitored starting around 32 weeks, and then induced at 37 weeks. but I didn’t have the same issue w lo2 (who was actually born late—I was induced at 41 weeks so she cooked a full month longer!)

Yup! I had an insane pregnancy with my LO1 (bleeding issues, hospital bed rest) and my LO2 was completely textbook.

I was terrified my entire pregnancy that I was going to have a repeat (because my issues had a statistical chance of repeating), but nothing ever happened! I had a good friend who had pre-e starting super early in her first pregnancy and had the same experience - stressful pregnancy with LO1, textbook with LO2. Fingers crossed things stay calm for you!

I’m 16 weeks pregnant with my third child. I had a textbook pregnancy with my first, and it couldn’t have been any easier. With my second, I started contracting at 24 weeks and was on bedrest until I delivered at exactly 37 weeks. Now, at 16 weeks, I’m starting to have some of the same issues I had prior to 24 weeks last time. Cramping after activity (no matter how mild, even just making dinner), etc. My midwife is aware, and for now we are monitoring. I’m just afraid that I’m going to have a repeat of last time. The logistics were tremendously difficult with only one child. I can’t even imagine it with a 5 year old and a 20 month old. I don’t really know what I’m asking for with this post. Has anyone had a difficult pregnancy and then gone on to have a “normal” one? Any experiences?
Thanks in advance!!
