I used to get them pretty frequently but I haven’t had any in the third tri at all (35 weeks now). Nothing I did stopped them…I just had to wait it out =/

@kge: Nothing helped for me, and mine were horrible and nasty--ruined several shirts, lasted 2-15 minutes each, Well... one thing worked: delivery.
They were worst in 2nd tri (at least daily), by the end of 3rd tri I got them weekly or less.

I used to cough up blood from it running down my throat, slept on a towel on my pillow and still ruined the pillow case...
Do buy some hydrogen peroxide for cleaning the stuff you stain.

I had them--not active ones, but a little blood when I blew my nose. As pps said, it has something to do with the increased fluid/blood volume during pregnancy, and i think it also causes your gums to bleed more easily during pg, which I had too. So you are not alone!

Oh yeah, I had that when I was pregnant with my first but not with my second. I think it's b/c your body is producing so much extra blood for your baby. Not sure why it gives us nose bleeds though. Sounds common for pregnancy. I had it on and off with my first. I don't normally get nose bleeds at all so it was definitely pregnancy related.

Try neosporin or vaseline/aquaphor around and a little bit inside your nostrils before you go to bed. One of my friends suffered from nosebleeds all the time as a child and once she did this she didn't get them nearly as much. I think it is supposed to keep the area moist and 'soften' the dry air that is going in. I'm not sure if it is the same for pregnancy nosebleeds 'cause that is more of an extra bloodflow issue but maybe it's worth a try!

I would get nosebleeds throughout my entire pregnancy. By the end I was getting like 4-6 a week. The doc said it was normal

i had a few nosebleeds in the morning for a while, well, not blood actually running from my nose, but when I'd blow my nose when waking up it would be bloody... but it went away at some point, maybe around 23 weeks or so? it was weird, I just had it for a few weeks, then it was gone. My big problem was gums that would bleed badly & randomly - that also went away... I'm 34 weeks now.

@kge: yeah I can see how that would be a problem. I don't have a good answer since I've never noticed it at night (but plenty of other things keep me up at night!). Good luck!

i'm really not worried about it & i tell my DH that it's b/c i have too much blood right now, but it's interfering with me sleeping in on the weekends- and we know how important that is!- b/c of the whole blood running down the back of my throat issue. and i'm worried i'm going to go through the hassle of finding an appropriate work outfit & getting dressed only to end up with bloody spots on it.

Yep, I've gotten about 4 or 5 quick ones in the past few weeks (I'm 12 weeks today). I don't think they are too worrisome, unless of course you are really losing a lot of blood or they last a long time.

I read something about it being a result of increased blood production, but I'm not sure about that.

I haven't actually had active bleeding. But I have to blow my nose a lot every morning and it's always really bloody the first few times. Saline spray helps a little but I don't know if that would work for actual nose bleeds.
