@tiramisu: I would suggest the same to you - look into mold. Hate to be an alarmist - but we just went through it

My almost 3 year old DS gets frequent nosebleeds too, often over night. Its generally not very heavy, but is alarming. I asked his ped about it and he asked if he had bruising on other areas of his body. He did not, so he didnt seem too concerned. We live in a fairly warm climate and I havent figured out what causes it. Interestingly, a couple winters ago I was waking up daily with a nosebleed. It would happen throughout the day too. I ended up having to get it cauterized cause it was getting out of hand.

@oskarsmommy

No other symptoms! Just wakes up with a nose bleeds. Our home is 4 years old so we shouldn’t really have mold.

@anagram @peachykeen
I just realized my husband put up the humidifier bc it’s in the 80s here. I’m going to have to re take it out bc doing laundry everyday for his bedding is getting super annoying.

@bhbee we do have a nurse phone chat option but I’m not kidding you, every time I’ve called (which is a lot bc 3 kids) the response is bring them in.

I asked our pediatrician about this exact same thing earlier today and got the same response as @Anagram: there’s also a saline gel that can help— nasogel— I’ve used it myself in the past when allergy meds were drying out my nose

any other symptoms? I only ask because we are dealing with mold right now - and nosebleeds and mold go hand in hand..

I second @Anagram: suggestions. DD1 has this problem a lot and a humidifier definitely helps but it does still happen occasionally even when it's humid. Her nosebleeds happen most often overnight so I'll sometimes put a little A+D ointment at the opening of her nostrils when she's having several. But mainly it's just an annoyance and nothing to be concerned about. I used to have the same problem so I think it's kind of hereditary.

My oldest started having frequent nosebleeds this winter—once or twice a week. Part of the problem was she was scratching off a scab that was up there, but dryness was the main culprit. When we use a humidifier at night and a saline nose spray occasionally, it keeps the nasal passages moisturized and keeps the nose bleeds at bay.

Can you call and chat with the nurse? I could see it being no big deal, I wouldn’t question it once, but every day seems like it might need some help (even just something to help if it’s too dry up there)

LO2 (3 years) recently has had a nosebleed every morning he wakes up. (Since Sunday) No other symptoms. We did just come back from a week long vacay in a humid environment. The area we live in (the South) also has super high pollen and everybody's allergies are going crazy. LO2 doesn't have any sneezing or anything like that but ever since Sunday, he wakes up with dried blood all over his face and blood all over the bed.

Should I take him to the pediatrician?
