So...following the law of 'if you post on the internet about something, it is sure to change soon...' LO crawled in her cot last night and then is crawling around this morning like a pro :)

My LO crawled when she was 10 months. I of course was freaking out when every other baby we knew was crawling, some walking at that age! The worst thing was people's comments. I guess just go with your gut and talk to your dr. Mine wasn't worried in the slightest.

My LO could pull himself forward on his belly at 10 months but he just didn't care to. He would move a few inches and then play with whatever toys were in reach. By 12 mo he was still doing that and he wasn't pulling up to standing either so I got an Early Intervention evaluation. At first they said he was delayed for gross motor skills, but then he randomly had a huge burst of his physical skills so at the first PT visit (3 weeks after initial eval) she said he didn't need any further therapy.

So- ask your ped about getting a referral for EI if this goes on for a while and continues to bug you, BUT I learned the valuable first time mom lesson the hard way (with lots of stress and dealing with making appointments etc)- that yes most babies really do just figure it out in their own time! Its so hard not to worry though!

E was 10 months old when she started crawling. I was really, really worried about it but it turned out there was no need. Two days after she first crawled, she started pulling up and now, at 12 months, she's really close to walking. She caught up with herself! You've nothing to worry about!!

I wouldn't worry! Some babies focus more on other skills. I have found that babies who are late to get mobile seem to take to it really quickly once they start moving so they "catch up" haha

E is turning 1 in August (!!!) and only just figured out crawling a few weeks ago. She's now interested in pulling up, but hasn't made any more progress than that (so, no walking or even pulling to stand yet). I've just decided not to worry about it. She'll do it in her own time :silly:

DD never crawled. Well, she finally learned to crawl AFTER she walked. She pulled up to stand and cruised pretty early and preferred that method to crawling.

J started crawling at 11 months. I got similar questions, and now get them about when he will start walking (14 months and he cruises but no steps unassisted). Babies be babies! It will happen :)

Crawling isn't a necessary "milestone". Many babies skip it & go straight to walking when they're ready. She sounds like she is hitting everything else perfectly; I wouldn't be concerned. My LO is also 10 months & everyone constantly asks me if she is walking yet!!!!!! She isn't & that's okay. I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

I agree on not worrying about it since she seems to growing. She gets into position to and is moving backwards (DS did this and crawled a month later). Or as others have said, she may just skip crawling and go straight to walking!

I wouldn't worry. DD1 didn't crawl until five days before she turned ten months, but once she did, she was off. She never got onto all fours and rocked, or scooted, or any of the other precursors, she just got up and crawled one day. I think she was waiting until she felt sure she could do it, and then off she went. It sounds like your LO is similar! And you never know, she may just be one of those babies who skips crawling altogether and goes straight to walking :-)

Crawling is actually not an official milestone. There are lots of babies who don't crawl and move right to walking so I wouldn't worry about it!

My LO couldn't get into a sitting position from laying down, pull to stand, or crawl (any kind of crawling!) Until he was just about 11 months. Then, everything happened all at once! I was really worried about the crawling (he didn't even army crawl or scoot on his belly). I scheduled an EI evaluation and wouldn't you know, the day before they came, he army crawled! That was close to 11 months.

He then figured out how to get into a sitting position and pulled up to stand. Within a few days he was crawling regularly. I know it's hard not to worry, and the comments are annoying, but it sounds like she's on the right track! FWIW, my LO was super laid back and just not very physical. Now he's nonstop!

Right there with you. H scootches and gets to her knees but cannot figure it out. I'm afraid she will never crawl. She doesn't even belly crawl and she is 9.5 months old. She can pull up to her knees but not to her feet.

S turned 10 months a week ago and is not crawling yet. Of course everyone keeps asking me about it and that's kind of annoying...but really it's not worrying me much and I figure (hope) it's like one of those things that I worry about and then soon after sorts itself out.

So she can roll just fine, scoot all over on her tummy by pushing herself backwards, get into sitting position from her tummy, pull up to standing from sitting (although she doesn't do this that often) and then she'll get on all fours all the time but cannot figure out how to move forwards! It's like she doesn't want to even try because she feels like she can't do it. I feel bad for her because she clearly wants to move in that way, but can't :(

She's not a physical baby, although she sat up fairly early at 5 months, she didn't show any interest in rolling or moving until 8-9 months. So, I don't know...would you be worried? Any Mum's of late crawlers/babies who skipped crawling care to chime in?
