@Bao: Oh my! Is it weird, I hope that I can not gain weight next pregnancy?! lol!

@jedeve: I wouldn't worry unless your OB is concerned. I didn't gain much before 20 weeks, and gained 19 lbs by the end.

@jedeve: I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't gain a single pound until I was about 21weeks. I did pop out a belly at about 15-17w, but no weight gain. I did end up gaining a total of 30lbs. And, I carried small too. I went 3 days overdue, and when I walked around that week of my due date, people would be like, "oh, you still got a month or two?" and i'd say, "nope, I was actually due yesterday!!" And I ended up with a 7 and a half pounder :)

I won't want to gain that much with #2 unless I manage to lose before getting pregnant but with #1 I gained 26 lbs total and had only gained maybe 8? If I had to guess in the first half.

If you're concerned I would bring it up to your OB. I gained just under 30 lbs with my first and 20lbs with my second and both boys were born well over 7 lbs. My second was almost 8 lbs! I never asked my OB but he never brought it up so I figured I was okay. Plus, I had extra ultrasounds with my second due to a potential issues that was a non-issue in the end. He was growing on target so all was good. :) And I ate like crazy too! And not the most healthiest food either. :P And I'm pretty average for my height and weight to begin with.

Don't worry.

My midwife told me that healthy weight gain is about 5 lbs in the first 20 weeks then 1 lb/wk for the last 20 weeks... so 25 lbs total.

I only gained 3 lbs in the first 20 weeks and 29 lbs overall.

I'm 31 weeks and only up about 11 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, and I lost about 6 lbs before I started gaining anything, which wasn't until after 20 weeks-ish. My doctor hasn't said a single word about my weight despite weigh-ins at every appointment, though she originally told me I should gain 20-25 lbs total. As long as baby's growth looks good, I'm not worrying (though I was def nervous when I was still losing!)

With A I was up 18 pounds in the end, this time I'm only up 9 pounds at 35 weeks. At 20 weeks I was only up 1 pound...I think as long as baby is growing on track then you are ok!

As long as you're eating a solid, healthy diet (and factoring in the extra calories you burn through nursing), I wouldn't worry about it. I hadn't gained anything at 20 weeks and still went on to gain about 40 lbs!

If you are still nursing, that probably is contributing too.

Morning sickness was never friendly to me, I had to drink things like Ensure to not lose weight as much during the first half of pregnancy.

I lost 15 or so lbs the first trimester and didn't even catch back up to my pre-pregnancy weight until well into the third trimester, and then only put on 4lbs over that. I had no appetite at all, was constantly nauseous, and struggled to eat. I had a very healthy almost 9 lb baby. My midwife told me I was a textbook example of a baby taking exactly what they need from the mother, even when the mother doesn't put on a lot of weight.

My midwife said that maternal weight was one of the worst indicators of healthy baby growth... I have been a slow gainer in my pregnancy and growth scan at 36 weeks showed a 6lb-er already!

Before you roll your eyes or tell me I'm lucky, I gained 42 pounds with my first!

With my second, I had lost all but five to ten of those pounds and was well within a healthy range for my height. I think lost a little more right before I found I was pregnant. I'm not really sure, I don't weigh myself that often.

Now I am 17 weeks and have gained at most 4 pounds, maybe less. I'm getting a little belly, but everyone tells me I look small. (I think part of that is just the way I carry) I am still nursing my first and am kind of worried I will have to stop if I don't gain enough. My MW said I should gain 10lbs by 20 weeks.

I think I was up 20 lbs at 20 weeks with my first! Someone give me some tips and motivation!!
