I hated doing it. I feel like an ass, but he left our mailbox open and I am over it. I called the 1-800 number and they insisted I give them my name, address, and phone number. I refused several times over, and he eventually gave in and submitted the complaint. I realllly don't like complaining! WOW. People in our neighborhood are wondering wtf is up. The USPS has pretty specific guidelines on "legal" mailboxes (note that you'll never see them opening from the bottom, just from the top, for example), to protect the mail carriers from weird things (like their hands getting caught when a box springs closed, I would guess). I had a postman stealing packages from me and I reported him and they finally were able to track down the packages. 7 packages ripped open with everything gone. Anyways I would for sure report him! Sometimes those postman just tick me off. He did this again today, and I've had enough. We are at this guy's mercy, and we want to go about it in a careful manner. We want our last ditch effort to be filing a complaint to the post office. In the meantime, would a note kindly asking him to place packages by our front door and to ensure our mailbox is closed be sufficient? </p>
