we switched to WCM at 10 months because LO refused to take formula or pumped BM. however, i would check with the ped about almond milk because i'm not sure it has sufficient nutrients/fat to substitute for WCM that early. we actually started with mostly full fat dairy (yogurt and cheese) not WCM straight, so you could try that first and see how she does. LO outgrew her MSPI around then.

We started the transition from BM to WCM at about 10.5 months because I got pregnant and my supply took a nose dive. Talked to the pediatrician about it first, and she said that although it was ideal to wait until 12 months, that it was fine for us to attempt the transition early. DD had no issues. She was getting a BM/WCM mix through 12 months, but also straight WCM starting around 11 months.

Not sure re: switching off formula (our ped said it should be her primary food until 12 mo... but also my LO isn't that interested in food so I think she was more reassuring that was fine). But I did ask about baking with almond milk now because LO is MSPI and my ped said no almond milk before 12 mo.

@LuLu Mom: yes she's a little sensitive to dairy just like my first. I also try and stay away from growth hormones in wcm

I would just talk with your doctor. Remember that doctors are not nutritionists, and you might also find someone who can guide the transition. You could find success in mixing formula with milk, and gradually weaning?

We don't do dairy or milk or any kind, and there are plenty of ways to get amazing fats for baby. PM me if you need any ideas. Have you looked into hemp milk? It's close to the profile of cow's milk without the hormones, etc. Mr. Bee posted about it here a few times.

I would confirm with your pediatrician, 10 month seems a little early. And mind me asking why almond milk? Is she allergic to dairy? I know even with our daughter's major allergies they really wanted us to try to use WCM if possible for the fat for brain development, almond milk just did give enough. We were lucky she was able to do it. Now at 2 we do give her almond milk as well as cow's milk, but we kept WCM until 2 so she got that good fat.

We are going through the same thing with my LO. He will ten months this week. The pediatrician doesn't want him switching to wcm just yet though. I would definitely check with your doctor.

I switched from breast milk to whole cows milk at 10 months. LO would have nothing to do with formula, so I wasn't going to fight it.

He did awesome at his 1 year appointment.

I started switching from BM to WCM at 11 months because my supply was rapidly dwindling. Most peds won't recommend doing a switch before 12 months. Have you tried putting the formula in a sippy cup or sending less formula now that she is eating more table food?

@Mrs. Bum: One of my friends switched her 10 month old to WCM because of the same issue. He ate like a machine! She cleared it through her pediatrician first, and it has worked well for them.

Little girl is almost 10 months now and is completely uninterested in formula now. Within the last few weeks she's basically wasting tons of her drinks because of eating other foods now. So my question is at what age is too early to switch to milk (going to be doing almond milk) Anyone here start at 9/10 months?
