@mrs. tictactoe: yeah :( try tightening the straps. The shoe was one size fits all. I'm an 8.5 but it felt HUGE on me and I clomped around until I tightened it. I felt much more stable then!

I do hope you feel better soon!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yep! Sooooo attractive. I actually haven't been wearing it because it hasn't been hurting too badly, but I think I should because the way I'm walking is screwing up my foot.

How unfortunate!! When I was pregnant, DS definitely watched more screen time than I would like. Recently we got a water table and it keeps him occupied for a pretty long time!

TV, movies, and iPad games in much larger than normal quantities for LO are a-okay by me! Independent play for extended periods didn't start happening regularly until he turned 3, and even after we turned that corner, I have still needed to supplement with videos/games when I'm feeling bad.

@mrs. tictactoe: you poor thing! Did you get the blue shoe? I did the same thing last fall. I felt like I could walk better if I made the shoe super tight.

I'm also guilty of the too much tv when I'm sick. Is there anyone around to help out for a few hours?

@chopsuey: @mrs. tictactoe: I did this, too - I didn't realize how much pain I'd be in after my wisdom teeth were removed and didn't have anyone to help out with DS.
This was also the time I gave him the iPad and we watched a ton of DVDs. You gotta do what you gotta do to survive!

Hope you feel better real soon!!

@mrs. tictactoe: When DD was younger and I was pregnant (going through crazy fatigue), I'd lie on the couch and let her play alone. When she came over to me, I would pretend I was asleep. She'd eventually go back to playing. Hahaha. Mommy of the year :P
When DS was younger and I really needed some sleep or was sick, I'd let DD play with the ipad or watch some tv.. Gotta do what you have to to survive!

@chopsuey: Yesterday, I was able to lie down on the couch while he played independently for a bit, but it didn't last long. Maybe it's easier with a sibling? But probably not, because then they fight...

when I'm sick, I'll lock us in DD's room and let the kids play while I lie down :P

I stubbed my big toe on Saturday night - we were walking home from getting frozen yogurt and I was wearing flip flops, holding Liam, hit my big toe on an uneven sidewalk - thought it was broken, so went to the ER Sunday, the ER dr took one look and also thought it was broken, but x-rays showed no breaks. I got some pain meds and a super cute new shoe (not). I worked on Monday and it felt a lot better, but that night I started not feeling well. I went to work Tuesday morning and soon realized I had to go home - I was definitely sick, and not a little cold, but a stomach churning horrible thing. I had the flu (I think - body aches, chills, nausea, diarrhea, headache, soooo sleepy, fever). I took Wednesday off and am much better today. I'm still not eating like I used to, but at least I am eating. Now my husband has it and we're just waiting for Liam to get it, but hoping his vaccines and strong immune system somehow save him.

I'm a mess! My foot is now starting to hurt all over because I'm walking with my weight on the outside of my foot, which isn't good. I've read about "great" (big) toe injuries and they can be so bad for your feet because we really use them when walking, unlike our other toes. I hope it doesn't turn into something more serious!

As a result of all of this, Liam has watched way more sesame street and mighty machines than I'd like to admit. It's just so hard to keep him busy and entertained when I'm sick and injured.

How do you keep your LO occupied when you're not feeling well?
