I have "lean" PCOS. On my first round of 50mg Clomid, I ovulated. I did a second round of 50mg - no ovulation. I did a third round fo 100mg - no ovulation. I took a month off and switched to femara. I have now done 3 rounds of 5 mg femara. I ovulated the first two rounds and am still waiting to see if I ovulated with the third. I do not think I did, but If I did, it was later than the first 2 rounds.

Would your doctor be willing to test hormone levels? My hormones dove post peak so I ended up needing hcg and estradiol along with femara. But that worked for us when previously it took a year to get pregnant.

@LaughLines: I believe I did 4 cycles of clomid, increasing the dose each time, then a failed cycle of femara and then a cycle of injectibles which was cancelled (I was not responding to a low dose and there was concern that if the dose was increased, I'd produce too many follicles for a non-IVF cycle. I ended up moving to IVF pretty quickly and have had 2 successful pregnancies from 1 fresh and 1 frozen cycle.

Eta - I was under care of an RE for all my treatments and have never done an unmonitored cycle with an meds.

I responded poorly to Clomid, even on 150.

Femara 5mg worked well each time, albeit still late ovulation. I have PCOS and recommend you are monitored so you know what's happening, or could use a trigger shot if need be!

@Madison43: so what did you do from there? How many cycles did you keep taking it?

@LaughLines: it's so arbitrary. I have pcos and ovulated the first 2 cycles on clomid and never again. I never responded to femara either.

@MaryM: i thought of that, i just don't know why clomid would have worked so perfectly the first time and now it isn't. The only thing that is different is that I'm not being as good at the low carb diet as last time so I'm trying to be better.

My doctor suggests femara for people with pcos. Maybe you can ask about switching?

I have pcos and took clomid to ovulate and got pregnant with my daughter on the first try of 50mg. Now dd is 18 months and we're trying for #2. We did one cycle at 50mg and i dont think i ovulated (based on opks). Now for the second cycle we did 100mg and it's cd18 and no ovulation yet.

I feel such a lack of control and dont know where to go from here. Any advice?
