@rahlyrah: I used to find that sometimes I couldn't get anything out of my left while pumping, but if I hand expressed I could see there was milk there. It wasn't as good a producer as my right, but over time just letting A nurse more on the left has increased production. It seriously made me freak out at the time but I think sometimes pumping isn't the best measure of how much is actually in the boob. Also as pp have said, water and sleep help a lot.

@rawrasaur: Good advice. I really haven't been hydrating myself like I should.

DH also put a hot compress on it towards the end of the session and it started to express some. I'm hoping it was just a freak thing.

@MamaMoose: That makes sense. Thank you for being so reassuring! This is a lot harder then I thought it would be.

Give it a few days. I know one of mine randomly dipped a lot in supply for a few days. I was so freaked out I wouldn't be able to use it. Drink a lot of water and try to get good sleep. Also, did you make sure that your pump didn't have any issues? I know sometimes something will be off on mine and I don't notice until I look down and realize I have an empty bottle.

@rahlyrah: don't freak out! If he wasn't getting anything on that side he wouldn't have nursed on it for thirty minutes. He probably just really emptied you out and your breast hasn't had enough time to replenish. Since he nursed on the right second he probably didn't fully empty that breast which is why you were able to get more from that side with the pump.

@MamaMoose: He finished nursing about half hour ago and did about thirty minutes on each side. We started on the left though so it has been about an hour since he nursed on that side.

I am freaking out a little.

Sometimes I have to do compressions on one side or the other to encourage let down to happen. Or I have to do multiple rounds of the fast setting on my pump to get it going. How recently did your LO nurse on that side?

I am in the middle of pumping and am not producing AT ALL on my left side. This side has always been my lazy side, but I have never produced NOTHING while pumping. It is kind of freaking me out. Is this normal?! I wonder if this means that LO has been getting nothing out of that side all day when he nursed.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? How do I fix it?!
