@locavore_mama: I have the haan slim & light sanitizing steamer. It's really light and has a carpet attachment to sanitize carpets (not clean them ... just sanitize). I use this on my rugs after a good vacuuming cause you just never know with toddlers! I got an extra bag of cleaning pads cause I can't justify throwing 3 in a wash cycle .. so I wait until all of mine are dirty and then I do 1 big wash cycle.

@MrsA: you're correct, it's not & will often void warranties on new floors. Hardwood floor installers warn people not to use them.

We use Bona for wood and Swiffer for tile. Steam mops are bad for hardwood!

I heard that steam mopping isn't great for hardwoods (I don't know if that's true but I went with it). I bought the Bona hardwood cleaning system based on previous recs here and have liked it.

We have a haan steamer and I can't say enough about it. It's one of the few steamers that actually gets over boiling pt so it's actually sanitizing the floors while it's cleaning.

@T.H.O.U.: both of mine were less than 18m old! The water won't pump out of this one and the last one it just kept leaking water.

I need suggestions too! A gasket or seal or something just broke on our shark. It was a cheaper model and like 4 years old but still, I'm annoyed it broke.

When my shark died I switched the Bona for Tile. I already had the Bona for hard woods and its like a Swiffer where you insert the cleaning solution and add on the cleaning pad - if I am doing hard wood I use hard wood cleaner - for tile I use the tile cleaner - then I throw them in the wash - been very happy with it!

We've had two shark steam mops so far and both have malfunctioned on us.

We use our steam mops for day to day cleaning so need a new one!
