@Smurfette: I did try a sample when she was little (we had one and our LC said it was fine to give her) it was the orange container. I didn't notice a difference but also it wasn't really an issue then. I hope our ped will have samples to try too.

My LO went threw a spitting up phase right around that age - I remember we went back into the doctor's office a week after his 4 month check up because he was spitting up a lot after every single feeding for three days straight and that was not normal for him. Doctor checked his belly, he had no fever or any other symptoms so they said everything should be okay and that the spitting up could be teething related or just him moving around a little more. He was interested in sitting up (with assistance) more around that time. They recommended that we cut his bottles in half and offer them sooner, so every 90 minutes (he was usually eating about every three hours) - that did seem to cut back a little on the spit-up.

@kjpugs: Usually whisked one bottle at a time, using warm water so we didn't have to microwave. I'm sure that's against the "rules", but I felt comfortable doing that since I could tell exactly how warm the water was :)

We had this same issue until we to Similac Sensitive Ready to Feed liquid, That combined with Zantac daily was a life saver.

Have you looked at baby massages? Kinda like bicycle legs but you can actually do heart massage on their belly to help relieve the gas.

@yoursilverlining: did you hand whisk every bottle? Or a large batch? Not sure if we would be able to warm them fast enough for her without the bottle warmer here.

@kjpugs: oh, just wanted to add too that my LO got gassy when we shook up the bottles vs. using the Dr. Brown's pitcher, so when we were traveling to someone's house and didn't bring the pitcher, I used a bowl and whisk to mix up her formula. That didn't create as many air bubbles as shaking up the formula.

We also only used the pre-mixed formula when we had to because she seemed to get fussier on that as well; it is a thicker consistency than powdered formula so maybe that makes a difference to their little tummies?

Hope your LO goes back to normal once you return home!

@yoursilverlining: thanks for the reminder, we are doing gas drops. Not sure they make much/any difference. I'll try more bicycling legs.

@illumina: that's good to know, thanks! Will definitely still check with ped but reassuring to know it could be a phase and just maybe, not an allergy/intolerance or her being sick.

LO went through a spit up phase again around 3.5-4mths whereas it had previously stopped. Come to think of it, she did seem a little more gassy too. Could just be a phase, but don't take my word for it and definitely check with your ped.

I left FL for NJ on Friday bc my sister unexpectedly came home from Armenia for a short time. LO (16 ish weeks) came with me- just us two as DH had to work. She's always been gassy- more and more- so Tues or Wednesday we got her Dr Browns bottles. She finally wasn't collapsing nipples! But I didn't really see an improvement in her gas. (She's on Similac - just the regular kind.) her 4 month appt is Wednesday so I planned to ask about it. Meanwhile while we are in NJ, she seems to be worse. Lots of gas and spit up. I assumed it might be because I have to make and shake the bottles (at home we use dr browns pitcher to gently mix and then have a bottle warmer- my mom has neither.) We gave her prepared formula though (the kind you buy liquid already) and while she seemed maybe less gassy, she still had a lot of spit up. She has gotten grumpier each day we are here. Her (very rough) schedule is off a little since being here but she is still getting the same amount of sleep/food. She's been teething (some days are worse than others) so I don't know if that is contributing. Her cheeks have gotten red while here (and the only time outside has been going to/from the car- very minimal.). Not sure if all this is teething related, formula related, her getting sick, or something else? How did you help your super gassy/spit up baby? I'm at my wits end and our flight back is tomorrow. :( I don't like seeing her upset and being so unable to help.
