For both of my kids, the 2-to-1 nap transition took a while. DS1 has always needed more sleep and he was in the in between phase, where he really needed 2 naps but rarely slept for 2, from about 16 to 21 mos. Ugh. When we first went to one, we just moved his morning nap a little later and didn't put him down for afternoon nap and his bedtime was just really early. My DS2 is now kind of in that transition and he has always been kind of a crappy napper anyway, he is 15 mos and we just put him down for one nap at noon, he sleeps anywhere from 0-4 hours. It is frustrating and seems to have no rhyme or reason in his case but we're hoping that if we just provide the consistency of a single daily nap he will eventually get with the program!

Ds is almost 1 and we are trying to get to one nap. Today was 1230-150. Bed around 730. He never seems tired!

@abbydabbydoodlebug: I hear that! We stick to a 2-4 nap (almost all SAHMs that I know do their nap at this time!) and if my older ones sleep past 4:15 I wake them up for that reason! I want everyone in bed (and hopefully asleep) by 8!

I'm pretty sure DS#1 was completely on one nap by 16 months, DD it was more like 18 months...

@MamaBehr: thanks! She ended up falling asleep until 415, so I'll put her to bed at 8 or 815 tonight. I'm going to keep pushing the morning nap later and see how she does. I just don't like having her up so late at night. I like my time alone! Lol

DS#2 is 14 months old and takes one nap. I sort of forced it on him, since he's the youngest he has to roll with the punches. He tends to fall asleep by accident at 11:45 and then goes down for a real nap at 2. The short nap is however long we are in the car and the big nap is anywhere between 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs.

So my DD is 13 months old and yesterday took 2 short 40 min naps. Which happens sometimes, but not often. She woke up later than usual this morning and took about an hour nap and woke up at 1130, which is way later than usual. She's currently in her crib, sitting up and humming/talking to herself. Uh, what do I do? If she last woke up at 1130, what time do I put her to bed? I didn't think she was ready for 1 nap yet! And my MIL is coming to watch her Sat/Sun overnight for the first time! Is it time for me to just push her to 1 nap? What time do they take a nap if it's just one nap? Ugh, help me!
