@sloaneandpuffy: Kinda just if they acted interested or we were eating something that made a good finger food and was easily mushable for them. I'd try spoon-feeding every few weeks and it was a night and day difference between not getting it and then totally getting it.

She started eating consistently right after 7 months, but wasn't really into it until 8-9 months.

@sloaneandpuffy: I occasionally offered but not really. I started trying more after 9 months because we got so much flack from our pedi (actually got fired from him over it) but even then I refused to let myself stress over it. I continued reading up on it & solidifying that P was fine how she was. She eats great now at 12 months!.... I've actually spoken with moms that their babes still aren't good eaters as 13-15 mth olds!

@FarmWifeGina @runsyellowlites: Wow to 9-10 months! So did you keep offering during all this time until they finally went for it? Or just once in awhile, or what?

I wasn't able to EBF, but even being on the bottle, we let both kids take to solids at their own pace and when they decided they were ready, it went so easy. Both kids were about 9-10 months when they figured it out.

@runsyellowlites: Thanks! That is interesting to read that some babies with allergies or intolerances aren't "into" solids. I wonder if that is our case. My does have dermatitis and I know a lot of times that coincides with food allergies....

I guess I'll just go with the flow. Mostly I am just shocked because she seemed SO READY. She totally wants to eat her bib. Just not the food. LOL.

We were ebf until 9.5 months!! P just wasnt into them & with as many moms of early "self-weaners" I've talked too I was in no rush. As long as she's still growing there really is no reason to worry or push solids! ;)

Kellymom has a great post on delaying solids!
http://kellymom.com/nutrition/starting-solids/delay-solids/

She also has a good handful of other write ups concerning solids, just search the site. :)

Was your baby not that into solids? Please tell me about your experience.

We've only been on solids for a few days but already it's totally different from my experience with my 2 year old. He got right into solids although of course it took awhile to get the mechanics down. My little girl has seemed SO ready for WEEKS (she's 6 months) -- always grabbing at food and starting and even squealing when we'd eat. Now that we've offered her avocado and oatmeal cereal, she is totally not into it. Most of the time won't even open her mouth much less swallow anything.

Obviously I'm going to keep trying with different things every few days... and I know she won't go to college being still EBF... but still. How long did it take your reluctant baby to get into solids?
