Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I ended up trying it out without the sleepsack, which was probably a lot considering we recently switched to a floor bed too. After a few naps we added a crocheted blanket and he seems just fine. As a plus he seems to be staying in one place for once.

I must be crazy. I put DD in fleece footed pjs AND a fleece sleepsack! She is never sweaty in the morning. The first night she slept in her room she was in a onesie and fleece pjs and her hands and face were freezing in the morning! Her room does get cooler at night but we keep the house at 71 so I doubt her room gets more than a few degrees cooler than that. My son gets a long sleeves onesie and fleece footed pjs but he also has a blanket.

My older DS just turned 3 and never cared about sleep sacks one way or the other. He still rarely sleeps under a blanket - once in a great while he will ask for one but I think he kicks it off before or during sleep. He has always just slept in regular jammies. I guess footed sleepers are probably better, I know my younger DS (who is very attached to the sleep sack) rips off his socks at every opportunity and I would worry that his feet would get cold.

ETA: The temp in older DS room ranges from 64-68 in the winter and he seems fine.

You could put a short sleeve onesie under the pjs, and socks for extra warmth!

We tried them with S but he was way too active in his sleep and would panic in them. He also wouldn't wear any footed sleepers or socks at night after 6 months of age so I just rolled with it. He did have a small warm blanket I would sneak in and cover his feet with once he was out. Didn't ever last long because he did laps around his crib in his sleep!

I have a couple of sleep sacks. She seems to swim around in them too much and they are such a hassle during the middle of the night changes. We just use regular footed sleepers and swaddle her with a warm blanket.

We used sleepers.

But, DD has also slept with a blanket from 3 months...we were rule breakers. (ie - it was the only was she would sleep!)

I never really used them even though I spent a lot of money on them!! LO gets super hot and I imagine how I would feel if I was hot and couldn't get out of a sleeping bag. We just use regular sleepers, even fleece is too warm for him.

We never really used them. We had this awesome heavy duty A&A one and I felt like he just got tangled up in it. So after we ditched the swaddle I just put him in fleece sleepers and a onesie. I dress him in fleece year round because it would get cold in his room from the AC.

Stopped using them at 7 months in desperation to try anything for better night sleep. Have not missed them at all. LO is now 25 months and still in fleece sleepers. We give him an A and A blanket since a couple of months ago but he doesn't really use it. He also mostly sleeps good since about a year ago.

We've basically stopped using them (LO is almost 9 mos). Her room gets so hot with the heat in our building (which we can't control) that we actually keep her a/c on!

Sleep sacks = freak outs in our house. I have a small fortune in hardly worn sleep sacks. I usually keep dd in a onesie or undershirt and fleece pajamas at night in the winter.

Lo hated sleep sacks. We keep the house around 70 and put him in fleece sleepers. I also used an aa dream blanket tucked in on 3 sides of the crib.

We never used anything fancy. We swaddled her til like 3 weeks when she started needing her arms to sleep. For the most part she just wears a diaper to bed. Our house is like 70-73 but this girl gets SO hot if you put pjs on her.

We stopped using them around 6 months because she was standing in the crib and we were worried she'd trip in the sleep sack. it was summer but since she was around 8 months we've given her a blanket (gasp!) and she's never had any problems with it. she snuggles it to keep warm. Her room is also the warmest so we didn't want to give her fleece.

Anyone not use a sleepsack with their LO? Especially a baby and in the winter? We're thinking of ditching it with our 6mo because he's so active and the darned thing just gets in his way. I see his legs getting tangled and sometimes for fun he likes to pull it up over his face. (He's a fan of the blanket over my face, drive mommy crazy game during the day.)

If you don't use a sleepsack, do you use fleece sleepers or do you find regular pajamas to be sufficient at night? We keep that part of the house around 70 so I doubt that he's freezing.
