@LuLu Mom: I could try it I guess? I just worry that the "reward" will be too abstract for him, and the idea of going 10 days seems like a long time for him to look forward to something. And yes, we have mickey undies and we talk alll the time about how mickey doesn't like to get wet! He understands that but soemtimes it doesn't matter.

@Sparkler: I agree he is still really young. We only started because he seemed to be really into it--wanted to wear undies, was excited about it, etc. Would you suggest then just doing diapers/undies (his choice) at home, and doing diapers while we're out?

@looch: yup a stand alone baby bjorn potty.

26 months is pretty young to be potty training a boy, so I wouldn't push it if I were you. I would just ask him in the morning if he wants baby diapers or big boy underwear and take your cues from him. I think I started too early with potty training (approx 29-30 months) and although my son pees in the toilet and wears underwear except for nap times and nights, we are going on a year of refusing to poop in the potty and only pooping in pull ups at naptime and night. I think if I had waited until he was ready, it would have been an easier transition. Good luck!

This is a tough one, do you think a sticker chart with a BIG present at the end would work? He has to have 10 days without accidents and gets a sticker to get a gift he would really love. We did this with E, she got to pick out a doll of her choice from the toy store if she went all week without an accident, it was all she talked about and it was great motivation.

Also, we made a big deal about character undies and not going tinkle on "Minnie or Sofia" and that worked too, she didn't want to get them wet?

We started PTing LO (2y2m) last week. He did great the first 4 days or so...maybe 1-2 accidents a day, but would sit on the potty for a "special treat". However, the last few days, he has REFUSED to sit on the potty maybe 90% of the times when we ask him (which I try to only do if he hasn't gone in an hour or so). The treats we were using are not working any more. And he is having more accidents--not like FULL pee accidents, but he will start to go in his undies, sometimes say something, sometimes not, and then pee more when we put him on the potty (which he is willing to sit on after he has an accident). He understands where pee and poop go.
So now I feel like my options are:
1) Stop using treats at all and just kind of go with it--don't make him sit on the potty and wait for him to tell me (I was okay with this when he was having very few accidents)
2) find a really special toy that he can only have when he sits on the potty (any suggestions??). My fear is that this will stop working, just as our "Special treat" reward stopped working.
3) table PTing until he is older (which I hate to do because I feel like we got a great start).

What do you all think? What would you do?
