@peaches1038: we've done straight forward Ferber with checks for both boys (LO1 at 7 months and Rhett just recently at 6 months). Rhett took A LOT longer to go to sleep the first night than LO1 (around 90 min vs 45 min). He also cried a lot longer overnight that first night (probably 45 minutes each time he woke which was a lot) but the second night, he cut his cry time in half (both at the beginning and overnight) and he only woke once. The third night, he cried for 20 minutes and didn't wake and cry at all until morning. It has slowly dwindled since then and now he doesn't cry before going to sleep. I'm not going to lie; it's rough and my husband handled all checks the first week for both boys (he kind of just stepped up and did it since I'd handled 6 months of breastfeeding night wakings; I think he also knew I'd be more likely to give in).

If you are going to do it (no pressure either way), a couple tips:
I can't remember when exactly (maybe 9 months) but my LO1 went through a period of pretty intense separation anxiety and I would have felt soooo guilty doing it during that phase (so I had 6-9 months in my head as the ideal time for Rhett). Another tip = go to the doctor and get him checked out first to make sure all looks good. You don't want to be questioning whether he is sick while you are doing it ;) Last one = take super detailed notes of the crying, what it sounds like and how long it lasts. It helped me to see progress to know we were doing what was right for him.

@AggieDaze: Hank goes to bed easily at 730ish and then wakes 2-4 times and up for the day between 5-6. He mostly nurses for about 15-20 minutes and goes right back down with no fuss. He does have occasional nights (like last night) where he is up every hour and will not settle easily. I would be super happy with one wake up but I'm not sure I can handle sleep training. I always thought I would (lol-Ing at all the ideas I had before I was pregnant :silly: ) but now I'm not sure. Not really sure what I'm looking for but just wondered about your experience. I'm happy to hear it was successful for you!! Did you do it with checks?

@peaches1038: it's bad in the thick of it but after the first 3 days, I was so glad we did it. Before training, he was waking up multiple times per night and staying up for hours at a time no matter what we did. After 2-3 rough nights (the first was the worst), he's going to sleep on his own and staying asleep for a long time. He'll still wake sometimes between 4 and 6 (and last night was horrible due to his cough) but that's understandable.

awww gorgeous lil bubsies!!

Estelle turned 6 months on the 23rd, she weighs exactly 10kg (22lb?), I haven't measured her length yet but she is pretty long. Started solids a few weeks back, has a meal once (maybe twice) a day - she loves carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin, banana and apple. I will start meats soon, and then onto dairy slooowly. She still loves her booby like its her best friend in the whole world.

She usually has 2 naps per day (45-90 mins), and sleeps from 9.30 - 8am with two feeds during the night. She can sit on her bum, but is still unstead and topples over - needs more practice! She has been trying to crawl and get up on all fours, but hasn't managed it yet, so ends up doing a wormy belly wobble! Her fave things are blowing raspberries, clicking her tongue, and sucking on her lips :D

Rhett turned 6 months mid month. He was 19 lbs 3 oz and 26 inches. Rolling back and forth and cut both his bottom teeth in the past week or so. He can't sit unassisted for longer than a few seconds without a face dive. He loves music and is enjoying his toys more though his older brother still provides the majority of his entertainment. Just this week, he's been starting to make different sounds with his tongue and by putting his hand in his mouth while babbling. Takes either 2 or 3 naps and has recently started sleeping from 7:30 pm until 5:30 am (with sleep training help). He prefers fruits to veggies. Loves pears, prunes and peaches. Spit up green beans the first time we tried. :silly: considering transitioning out of infant seat as he's been particularly unhappy in it lately.

@peaches1038: Agreed. They are damn cute! Those eyes! Yay for 20 pounds babies lololol. Well in our defense they don't look chubby - it's all proportionate!!

Hank is 20 pounds and 28 inches! He can sit unassisted for dayyyz but is still working on getting up on all fours. No teeth yet! He sleeps from 730-530/6 with 1 or 2 wakeups. He takes 3 45-60 min naps. He's having a great time learning to eat but really loves nursing! He is obsessed with our cats. His giggles and smiles are infectious!

Hi Cooper!

Claire turned 6 months old on the 17th. She's 16 pounds 15.5 ounces (why they couldn't just say 17 pounds, I don't know) and 26.5 inches long. She's somewhere in the 70th percentile range for both categories.

She is also rocking back and forth on her hands and knees and scooting her way across the floor. She loves sweet potatoes, squash, and apples...doesn't care for carrots or peaches. She cut her two bottom teeth in the last month and based on the sudden increase in appetite and lack of solid sleep, she seems to be going through a growth spurt.

Hello November 2015 mamas!

I thought it would be fun to share an update since our LOs are all just about 6 months old!! (How did that happen?!)

Cooper turned 6 months old today. He is up rocking on his hands and knees, just started solids, and sleeps about 10 hours overnight with 2 90 minute naps. He took his first flight this month and loves music and our dogs. He smiles all the time and is 90th % on weight (20 lbs) and 75th% on length (27 inches). Photos attached.

Your turn!
