I would avoid books and anything that isn't able to be returned easily. </p> <p>The exception would be blankets. My SIL made me three double layer huge flannel blankets that WE LOVE! In the summer we love the Aiden and Anais blankets. I'd also be willing to go out on a limb and get premium prefolds for burp cloths because they are far superior to the Gerber ones we had initially. </p> <p>I also ask if they have any interest in.cloth diapering and offer to show them our dipes so they can see they are easy and cute. Depending on how much I spend, I might get something else too. I like to get practical things because a lot of people don't get those things. I was really frustrated after my shower. Of course, I'm grateful that we got anything at all but we got so many outfits that DS never wore. We didn't get any diapers or wipes.
