I didn't have an NT scan, but after my quad screen they gave me a 1 in 35 chance the baby had DS. I was 29.

We opted to take the MaterniT21 test, which just came out this year. It's just a blood test so it's non-invasive and it's 99% accurate in determining DS. Our test came back negative, but it was a harrowing two weeks full of "what ifs" while we waited for the results! Hopefully everything works out for you. The averages are on your side that everything will be okay though!

Oh that's good to hear, Mrs. Jacks. I just feel like the chances are more like 1/750 and LOGICALLY I am worrying for nothing. But I worry more b/c it's my third pregnancy, too, and we've had soooo many problems in the past.

My husband has a....larger than usual neck. He has a slim build but his neck is like that of a linebacker! I'm trying to convince myself the fetus has his neck :P

I did see the 90% note, thanks, travelingbrit! I'm wondering how age factors into that, too.

Don't worry too much at this stage. It's just a number. Lots of other factors will go into your results. If they determine that you may be at high risk, you have options like CVS to get a more accurate determination.

Check out this link: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/scans/nuchalscan#6

It says: Nine out of 10 babies with a measurement between 2.5mm and 3.5mm will be completely normal.

Keeping my fingers crossed for good results for you.

Just take everything one step at a time! Our nuchal was fine but numbers were super high. Still the chance of DS or tri 18 was only 4% after that. I decided to get CVS and we had a chromosomally normal baby.

That number is really close to normal (I think our doctor said up to 3 was normal), but very dependant on babies position and how cooperative they are. I know it is hard and I would worry too, but I think the combination of the measurement of the neck and the labs is the most important thing.

Sending lots of hugs until you get all of your results!

Also, (((((((((hugs)))))))))) because it totally sucks to have to wait for results like that.

I'm 26 years old and had my NT scan today at 12 weeks 4 days. I'm getting blood work done today and the number on my paper says 3.2mm for the NT. I read that average is 2-2.9mm. Anybody know a little more about this? I get results tomorrow, so I don't have to wait very long. Just kind of nervous now. She did have lower numbers she took (and higher) but this is the one on the sheet. Thanks
