I'll tell you a funny story about opks. DH and I went through a few months where I was using opks for preventing instead of trying, although we really did want a baby and were only preventing for a few months so that we could aim for a spring baby instead of winter. My normal cycle was over 30 days, with a short luteal and usually I got a positive opk around cd20 or so. Anyway, one month we had unprotected sex on cd10, then I got a super dark positive opk on cd17 so we used condoms that weekend, then we didn't have unprotected sex again for like another week. Based on opks, there was no possible way to be pregnant. And yet...a couple weeks later, AF was late and I took a pregnancy test just in case. It was a bfp, clear as day. My "spring" baby was born at the end of November and I won't really trust opks 100% anymore.

Anyway, all that was a long way of saying that you could totally still get pregnant this cycle. :) Good luck!

I never get lines on OPKs that are as dark as or darker than the control line. I just figured when it was pretty dark that would mean I was about to ovulate.

I think I have a short LH surge and it's easy to miss it without testing multiple times a day. I hate using OPKs...I don't have much luck with wondfos or digital ones. I just figure if we have sex frequently enough throughout the month I don't really need to know exactly when I ovulate.

Good luck!

OPK's never gave me solid results ... I ended up charting my temp each morning (and using OPK to confirm), and the temp was always more accurate.

I never got a clearly positive on my OPKs, and I used them for around 3 months before conceiving. Are you testing multiple times per day? I heard you should test a couple different times because the ovulation window can be really short.

I was in the same situation, NTNP for LO2 with weird OPKs. The month I got pregnant (currently 28 weeks) I conceived around day 23-25 of my cycle, and I've always had very consistent 29 day cycles! Idk if it was because I was still nursing 4x per day or what, but that month I had given up as a lost month and it just so happened I ovulated super late. I had been getting regular periods at that point for about six months.

I got a sorta positive OPK on CD22, so we DTD just in case and that was the month I got pregnant. And my dating ultrasound had me concieving around CD24-29.

So all this is just to say keep taking the OPKs because you may be surprised! And I had a hard time being casual with timing LO2 because my DH is a teacher and therefore gets zero vacation, which adds a lot of pressure to have summer babies if I want help! So I get it and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

This is the most trying, not trying, I've ever heard of ;) What is the not trying part, haha?

Okay, okay, but having said that! First of all, just because you didn't know you were ovulating doesn't mean that you are "out." As I'm sure you know, there is a decent window before ovulation and a couple days after. The cycle I got pregnant with #2, my husband was actually out of town right up until O day. So I would just keep "not trying" and don't get too down until the TWW is over!

OPKs leave too much room for interpretation for me, also. I would just spring for the digital OPK - there is nothing like getting a smiley face and knowing it's go time!

@mrsbubbletea: yeahhhh.. I guess I am trying. But, we agreed to just not prevent. So hard not to track ovulation. Especially when I went through so much with conceiving the first time!

Girl you are trying! If you are tracking your cervical mucus and using OPKs! All jokes aside, Sorry about missing ovulation, I find the hardest part of TTC #2 is timing.

We're not trying, not preventing baby #2. Well, I started OPKs this month and never got a full on positive. I had EWCM about 2 days after my period, which I ignored because I did t think I'd ovulate that early. I had a couple days of fairly dark lines on the OPKs but not as dark as the control line. Yesterday and today, the line is barely visible and CM is pretty much non existent. I'm on cycle day 15. I know I shouldn't be upset since we're not even REALLY trying, but it still sucks to miss ovulation in a cycle. You know? :bummed:
