But if the hormones were still in your system, you wouldn't get pregnant anyways! I would point that out to him.

I'm a pharmacist, so I have some insight to the length of time a medication stays in your body. I'm not sure what BC you were taking, but I pulled data on a few of the most common ones I see.

Medication elimination from the body is measured in what is called a "half life"- which is the amount of time it takes for half of the medication to be removed from your body. For example, if the half life is 24 hr (1 day) then after 1 day 50% of the medication is out of your system. After 2 days 75% is out of your system. 3 days- 87.5%, 4 days- 93.75%, 5 day 97.875%, etc. In general, the medication is considered completely removed from the body after 5 half lives.

Ethinyl Estradiol/Levonorgestrel combo- half life is 30 hours, 5 x half life = 6.25 days
Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol combo- half life is 49 hours, 5 x half life = 10.25 days
Ethinyl Estradiol/Norethindrone combo- half life is 24 hours, 5 x half life = 5 days

Often there are 10 days prior to ovulation. Giving all these medication plenty of time to be removed from the body prior to egg fertilization and, more importantly, implantation.

@sugarbee0822: You didn't mention if you are talking about the pill or another form of BC.
The hormones from the pill are out of your system within a day or two, which is why it has to be taken every day to be effective. The hormones in the injection version will stay for several months.
Perhaps if you show your husband actual facts about it that you can find online, he will be less scared about it.

For example you can try this site:
http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=53641

@daniellemybelle: I think that is it exactly, he's just worried about hurting the future baby which is very sweet of him. I just don't think he understands that the bc is out of my system are and won't cause harm. I think I'm just trying to give it a month since he was patient for me...I had it it my head that I wanted to wait until May/June to stop my bc, he has it in his that he wants to wait a month after I stop bc? Who knows. If in July it doesn't change, I'll definitely bring it up to him! For now I suppose I'll just enjoy husband time! Lol

Is he concerned for the potential baby's health? If that's the issue, talk to your OB and reassure him. Women get pregnant all the time after missing just a pill or two and they have healthy pregnancies and babies. If that doesn't reassure him, maybe he is not 100% ready and using that as his reason?

I would think it's pointless. The pill doesn't really stay in your system that long, anyways. That's why you can get pregnant after just missing a few pills.

That would definitely be frustrating for me. Can you call up your OB and see if they can provide documentation on how long it takes for BC to get out of your system? Hobestly, I think it's out immediately, but I could be wrong.

My husband and I agreed that I'd stop bc last month after my period and I did, which is very exciting! He said he's nervous about bc being in my system and wants to wait a month before truly ttc to "make sure there's nothing left!" Honestly, every time we have sex and he pulls out, I get a little upset! I'm trying to be patient and wait for next month to see if he continues, but I have to say it's not easy being patient!

Am I being crazy or would this be discouraging to you too?!
