She can't be expected to move her wedding because of what you have going on in your life, so you shouldn't be expected to change your family plans because of what she has going on. So, I'd keep on BDing.

Also, it was super easy to get pregnant with LO1. I thought LO2 would be easy also, but it took a while longer than I thought. It made me regret not trying sooner. So, think about if it took you longer to get pregnant, would you be sad you took a break? You'd be looking at more of a winter baby, would that be okay with you?

I'm due the same day as a relative's wedding. We didn't know the date until after we were pregnant and even if I had known before I still wouldn't have skipped a month.

I don't agree with the comparisons of one thing being more important than another. They are both important, meaningful, and life changing events. That said, I wouldn't put TTC on hold!

I don't think you're being awful. Everyone lives their own life on their own timeline, not based on the timelines of those around them.

That being said, if it was important to your DH to be in the wedding, I'd probably wait a month. It sounds like he doesn't want to wait, though.

We originally planned to start TTC in late spring/summer, but now we are pushing it off until the fall because I'm in weddings in June and September, and he's in one in August that requires traveling to the opposite coast. Mainly I don't want to be too fatigued/sick to participate. But that's MY choice, and not due to any feeling of pressure from any of the brides/groom.

You're not awful! I wouldn't want to put my life on hold for someone else's wedding. That being said, depending on how close I was to the couple I would probably take a break for a month if it meant not being 9 months pregnant around the time of the wedding. I would hate to put TTC on hold, but I know I would feel terrible if I had to miss the wedding of a special friend or family member.

Heck no you're not awful people! I did three IUIs this summer knowing full well that if any of them were successful I most likely wouldn't be able to go to my brother's destination wedding. But we had already been trying for over a year, and we didn't want to stop the progress of our treatments just because it could potentially be inconvenient.

I have a friend who was a bridesmaid in her brother's wedding and had to leave the reception to go to the hospital and deliver her baby! It just made for a fun story and didn't take away from the wedding.

I wouldn't expect other people to plan their lives around me to this extent, and therefore I wouldn't do the same in return.

If you stop and think about all the excuses for not trying to get pregnant, you could end up never getting pregnant and regret it.

We're in that phase of our family planning where we're not actively ttc. But we also aren't using any protection either. We're kind of NFPing at this point. So if I were in your shoes, I probably wouldn't mind pushing TTC a few months back. But at the same time, if we were actively TTC. I don't know that I would reschedule our timeline for anyone else but us!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I especially wouldn't feel bad since the wedding is local and it's still possible to attend, even if this is your month. Plus, you've already discussed it with her as a possibility, so I really wouldn't feel guilty.

I wouldn't postpone, especially if the wedding is where you live. My SIL was heavily pregnant for our wedding aboard and at the time I was upset (they still came though!) but looking back I know I was being ridiculous. No one should have to put their life on hold for someone else's wedding. It could be your lucky month!

@Mamasig: We are! But I actually told DSIL what the situation is, and she said that if we get pregnant, we can both step down and then the sides will remain even. I straight up told her if I get pregnant in February, or possibly even March, I don't think I'd be up for being in the actual wedding. But attending would be ok. Since it is only down the road, if our newborn started acting up we could leave. Or have my parents visit and go to the wedding with just LO 1. Ha, all of this assumes there will be an LO 2! Which of course we don't know. I feel presumptive even typing it out.

For MY sister, I would hold for a month. For his side, I'd let him make the call probably. And I'd take a relaxed approach either way-- like not super strict at preventing, or super hard trying.

But like others have said, we were lucky in that our first didn't take too long, so I'm hopeful the second won't either, which would help me be patient. On the flip side of that, I'll be older and inching closer to that point when they start warning you about decreased fertility, so who knows...

Are you a bridesmaid?

I'm postponing ttc until a friend's wedding in August because I will be in it. And considering the issues I had trying to get pregnant with E, i just didn't want that to be a possibility. And the longer I thought about it, the more waiting a few more months overall appealed to me.

Would you be in the wedding? My brother and SIL got pregnant accidentally and they were due the week before my wedding. Yes, I got mad but I got over it. However, I asked them to no longer be in the wedding. As a bride you are stressed enough - I didn't want to add a possible newborn to the mix. Feelings were hurt, I'm sure, but at the end of the day, it was MY wedding day.

I think right now I'd skip a month, if it were a sibling's wedding. At the peak of my emotional TTC frenzy, a month would have felt like forever. I don't think you're awful for prioritizing your own family unit, and missing the wedding's only a possibility at this point.

@nana87: Fortunately the wedding is in town so we could probably still make it, provided I'm not actually in labor or in recovery. Honestly since this is number 2 I wouldn't care that much if DH left the hospital and took LO 1 to the wedding. This, of course, is assuming all went normally which is not the way it always goes, I know. But I don't think I could do without him in labor! And I don't know if he would want to be gone. Also it would be bad because then the grandparents couldn't be present when the LO was born because they'd be doing wedding stuff. But I dunno. I really want another baby....you know how it is! We waited so long to TTC due to insurance stuff and we are really excited about it now.

If I got pregnant yesterday, I will be due on her wedding day. Sheesh.

For baby #1 we didn't postpone for anything and we ended up having to miss a few of Dh's friends' weddings which I felt bad about. This might sound terrible, but because we conceived easily last time, I would postpone a month for #2 because I'd anticipate it also wouldn't take too long to TTC.

You're definitely not awful! We did the same thing, and low and behold, I got pregnant and am due 2 weeks after one of my best friend's wedding. I really didn't think we had a shot that month--my cycles were irregular and I was out of town for part of what FF told me was my "fertile days" (though I wasn't temping or doing OPKs, so that window was just an estimate). I now have to miss the wedding since we'd have to travel across the country to be there, and I'm a bridesmaid. THe situation sucks and I feel terrible that I'm missing the wedding, but honestly, we had to do what was right for us. My friend has been amazing about it--of course she's bummed that we won't be there, but she has been so understanding!

We are TTC for baby number 2. We have only been TTC for a few months now. But a few weeks ago DSIL announced her wedding date, and if we were to get pregnant this month, our due date would be right around the same time as her wedding. I asked my husband if he wants to postpone and he said he really doesn't want to. I explained to him that it would be rude to knowingly get pregnant and put all of that additional stress onto her-- his sister's--special day. But he says it is ridiculous to "schedule" a pregnancy because you really don't know if/when it will happen for you and you never know if this month is "the month." So we have been NTNP/lazy TTC and honestly, I can't make myself feel bad about it. We've been waiting to TTC since before she was even engaged and planned our TTC dates well before her now-fiance was planning to pop the question. Plus I'm enjoying taking a NTNP approach so far and we have a weekend away planned and....dot dot dot. There you go.

Are we awful people?
