i'd been on BC because my periods were MIA. dr told me when we were ready to TTC to let her know & she would start us on something to help me ovulate. i wasn't ready to start anything, so i went off the BC last summer before we got married, knowing it was unlikely to happen before the wedding, but if it did we were totally fine with it. we've just continued to... enjoy being newlyweds... hoping that would eventually lead to a LO, but we're getting close to 1 year with that plan & it hasn't happened yet. my cycles as just getting longer (54 days) so now we're reevaluating the plan =/ this summer the focus is on getting healthy, learning to chart, trying to get me to ovulate on my own, and enjoying what could be our last summer as just a couple. in the fall, we'll start with some help if it hasn't happened yet.

I picked 2 options. DD1 was a complete surprise. In fact, I would say we were trying NOT to but she apparently had her own plans. DD2 we actively TTC right from the beginning, as soon as we decided it was go time. I didn't chart or anything, just put us on a 2x/week schedule and we got lucky!

We are still NTNT, but I will start TTC in a few months if nothing happens. After taking birth control for 15 years I want my cycles to start coming naturally before I revv up the charting, etc.

I started out using an app on my phone to keep track of my cycles. After 5 months I switched to charting. Four months after that I was sick of it all and ready to take a break. That's when we found out about the infertility.

I used OPKs, but didn't chart. I'll get to find out in a few days if that worked for us or not.

We were actively TTC from the beginning and charting! I didn't want to leave anything to chance and I want to get pregnant as soon as possible. I figured my best chance was to quickly learn my cycle and know when I ovulate so that we can time things correctly. So far it hasn't worked, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I voted "actively TTC from the start" (since Nov.) but only because we were making sure to have alot of sex during ovulation week. The first month coming off the pill I started using the ClearBlue Digi OPKs and have still been monitoring. Luckily I got the smiley faces from the start! However we are still TTC so I guess that doesn't really mean anything. I keep saying I'll take a step back, but it hasn't happened yet.

I was going to start charting my next cycle. We were actively trying for 4 cycles, I realized I was ovulating late (and I have short cycles), so I was pretty certain it wasn't my month, so I decided I wasn't going to "try" for a few months. Turned out that not being emotionally invested in being pregnant right NOW helped.

We went from the pill to condoms in sept 2010, and were quite good with those until after our wedding last May, then we kinda got lazy:) I used an app on my phone to keep basic tabs on my period and it gave me approx ovulation dates. On the 5th of sept I was too lazy to get out of the bed to get the condoms from the drawer, and later that day realised I had probably ovulated inside the previous 24 hours or so- the instant I said it, DH was convinced we'd got caught. I kept saying " don't be silly, it's not going to happen that quickly!" but hey, he was right:)

We actively TTC from the start. I said I wouldn't, but of course I'm such a planner and I wanted it to happen fast and I felt like that was the best way for me to make that happen.

I went off bc in Oct, we decided to NTNT in Nov/Dec, but then it quickly turned to actively TTC in Dec, Jan, Feb (we got our BFP).

The baby was a surprise, but we've been charting/using FAM to prevent pregnancy for years. We just got lazy one month, and I didn't get my usual ovulation signs because it was a very stressful month.

I had it down to a science from the very beginning- I wish I had just chilled out and enjoyed it at the beginning. I think I put way too much pressure on us from the start.

That being said, it is so hard not to let it make you a little crazy! Good luck!

We charted from the very beginning (I was actually charting prior to TTC due to my PCOS) and were actively trying from the beginning as well. I wish that we could have NTNT but I know myself and with my type A personality not knowing that we were hitting the right times, etc would have made me way more obsessed and crazy than actively TTC did! At least when I knew what was going on I felt like I had a *little* more control over something that was ultimately out of our hands.

We actively tried and I used OPKs but charting temps didn't work for me. I get up to pee during the night pretty often and I was stressed about getting a true resting temp at the same time each day and it caused me more stress than it was worth. OPKs worked for us because I got pregnant on the first try (I later miscarried but got pregnant on the first try again and I'm now 11 weeks)

We did the NTNT at first, and then I plugged my period dates into an app on my phone, which provided me with a window based on when it guessed my ovulation. No charting, so obviously it wasn't an exact science, but that was enough to get a +HPT

We are taking a more relaxed approach to TTC so I (hopefully) won't get completely obsessed (unlikely). I'll stop charting after this month, so I'll generally know when I ovulate but I won't be able to obsess about every temperature rise and fall. Of course this means I already know I'll probably ovulate during our big vacation in June, so DH may think we're being casual, but i'm sure I'll "spontaneously" want to have a lot of sex while we're gone! ;) I'm hoping our general approach will lead to us just having more spontaneous, fun sex, rather than feeling like it's a task to be checked off. We'll give it a try for 2-3 months and if we have no luck, I'll start charting again. I'm not sure if this qualifies as NTNT or just relaxed TTC, but that's our plan.

What was your approach and why did you do that?
