I would (and have) stay where I am and nurse....well, until she started flipping the cover off, and then I went back to the foyer for the entire service because she was loud. But, I go to church in Berkeley, so I'm pretty sure that people are just thankful that I wear I cover.
If you feel like other people are going to be offended or uncomfortable, I'd say that dark row up top is pretty darn private. I personally hated being in the nursing room, everyone just chats away like it's social hour.

I'll nurse wherever I am, including in church. I think of all places, church should be child-friendly. "Let the little children come unto me..." I hardly think God would be offended by breastfeeding during worship!

I will nurse anywhere anytime EXCEPT in synagogue--I always excuse myself. I don't know why. Maybe also because my dressy clothes are less nursing friendly?
I say see what feels comfortable for you and do that. I hate missing the sermon!

Thanks ladies! Most of the moms I know aren't comfortable bf'ing in public in any regards so they prefer the nursing room.... I generally don't care where I am so next service we'll move up top during worship when they open the risers and see how it goes! =)

I always nursed right where I was if I needed to, even in church. Maybe it's because I'm in liberal Seattle, or maybe it's because until 6 months ago, my husband couldn't come to church with me (work schedule) so I was juggling a baby on my own, but when I nursed him with a cover, more people smiled at me and were helpful to me than not. No one seemed judgmental about it, so I'd say nurse where you want. That said, that church had just added a cry room-- people were pretty used to seeing little babies in church, so it's not like there was a designated room where I could go.

Wowzas, that church is huge! I guess only you know what would be acceptable in your church, but if I was in mine, I'd just nurse with a cover.

oh i'd totally sit up in the dark and nurse with a cover. you could ask your other mom friends at your church and see what they think, too! :)

we have an awesome nursing room that is attached to the sanctuary with a one sided window, so we still feel a 'part' of the service, while lounging on couches nursing and eating our lunches. LOL. so thankful :)

I know there are some other breastfeeding bees that find themselves in this same position so I thought I'd ask for some feedback.

We have a pretty large sanctuary & I've been tossin around the idea of sitting up top during service so if P needs to nurse I don't need to leave to the moms room. Under normal circumstance I'd just feed her wherever but since they have a room specifically for breastfeeding moms I feel like I'm not "allowed" to nurse her just anywhere.

Right now I leave just about every service to nurse her for a whopping 5 minutes & then her fall asleep while I hold her. This of course is always after sermon starts so once I leave sanctuary I can't get back in. And of course there's always lots of babies in the moms room so I often can hear the TV (they stream the message).

We normally sit in the first set of risers which are VERY well seen so I've added a picture to show you where I'm think of sitting. (There's one row in the very back that basically still dark even with the service lights on).

What do you ladies suggest?
