I'd probably add a hooded towel, socks, and some toiletries in a brand you like (soap, shampoo, lotion).

It's such a popular shower gift, but now that I've gut a newborn, I can't imagine nursing without a boppy. I actually think it would be nice to have 2, one for upstairs and one for down, so getting a second at your shower wouldn't be a bad thing.

Also, maybe a sleep sack or swaddle so you have something for them to wear to bed?

Worse case scenario, you just place a big Amazon order from your hospital bed. :) Because LO was so much smaller than we were expecting, I bought a lot of clothes and diapers online before we came home.

Ditto on buying a lot of the basics myself. I just would rather have my idea of necessities ready even before the shower if I were close to DD. You can always return duplicates later.

Thats kinda tough! I know how hectic that season is so I completely understand wanting to get done as much as possible before then!

I guess it depends on how much you are hoping to get at the shower. Do you think you will get a bunch of nursery supplies? Or mostly toys and clothes?

I would probably buy most of the nursery stuff myself:
Crib, sheet, waterproof pad, breathable bumper
Changing table, changing pad, changing pad cover, diapers wipes, storage, trash can
Burp cloths and bibs (we stored on our changing table)
Rocker/Glider
Bookshelf/storage
Dresser or clothing storage

I think that would be most of the basics!

Do you plan on decorating the nursery? We had the furniture set up and basic clothing/sheets/towels washed a little over a month before my due date, but I was decorating the nursery until the weekend before my induction. We still have a few things that we never hung up, but we don't have time to do it now. My advice is, if you're planning on decorating, do it before January.

Will you have a glider or rocking chair in your nursery? If you're breastfeeding, you'll spend a lot of time in the chair. I would also get a few more onesies and some footed pajamas since it'll be cold when your LO is born.

I am a CPA and tax season is starting in January. I'm hoping to have all the basics in the nursery before tax season. I'll be 35 weeks when tax season ends so I want to be prepared with just the basics if I went a few weeks early. Tax season is pretty hectic, I don't foresee spending much time on nursery prep while working 60 hours per week. My baby shower is tentatively scheduled for about two weeks before tax season ends, but I'm thinking of having a few packs of diapers, some bath stuff, a few basic onesies, a few blankets, plus the crib and changing table ready before tax season.

Are there any major items I'm forgetting? I figure we'll get the car seat at the shower, when I'm about 33 weeks, and install it then.

When did you have your nursery set up?
