@stargal yeah I'm starting to lean in that direction. Thanks for the kind words.

@mrslemonlime yes! We have a loose Americana theme for our whole house. It felt silly to do it for the baby room too, but it would be really easy to decorate since I can just pull items from all over the place. We have been also thinking about the name Dixie for a girl, and Waylon is our boy name. It all kind of fits. Well baby is not due till March so I'm sure y'all Weill get lots of in progress looks too.

@mrsmcd awesome, thanks for the tip! I just can't get over the crib.

@Amurray: I agree with @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: that the Sleepi crib would be awesome for the mid-century modern theme. You can find them on craigslist if you don't want to pay full price and are okay with used.

@Amurray: although functional, the Sleepi crib will be super fun too.

Camping/ rustic is gender neutral. OnToBaby.com has some fun "glamping" real nurseries to look at if you have a girl. The striped chair and your VW reminds me of Americana. You have several fun design options! Don't forget to post your finished room. We love eye candy.

@mamaof2 I know, I have not thought much about birth in the past, but The not thing I always imagined my Dr saying "it's a ____" finding out would be great for planning purposes but I just can't do it :) yes, the van sleeps two up top and two below. My parents bought it before I was born, and when my Dad left the Air Force we lived in it in Europe for 4 months. They gave it to us a few years ago. I'm excited to repeat some family traditions.

@rrachael it's peel and stick so it's easy to get off ;)

Maybe I should just skip a theme and do Mid Century Modern inspired so it's more gender neutral.

I voted Wallpaper only because it's super cute and potentially a pain to get off ;) However, it's not super gender neutral ...

Hard to pick because that wall paper would be awesome for a little girls room but I like the camping theme and colors more for a boy!

I have never seen a van like that!! Do you sleep in the pop up part?

@Mrs Lemon Lime, love that site, thanks for the recommendation! I'm leaning towards the Sleepi because when it's round in can roll right through all the rooms upstairs. I love that natural and white look though. You recognized mid century model, kindred spirit, I love that look and feel.

@lulumom I agree. I figured it would not clash with the gold in the wallpaper so we do not *have* to get rid of it. Normally I would agree about it leaning towards a boy but our friends nursery changed my mind. They were team green too. Originally they were doing a whale themed nursery, then I suggested an adventure themed shower and they loved it so much they changed the nursery theme. They had a little girl, and it's so cute for her. I guess I'm not too worried because the decor would be authentic to the life we live regardless of the gender of the child.

I also think the furniture goes better/well with the camping/rustic theme. I think it would be adorable but maybe a little better suited for a boy than a girl? I don't know how gender neutral it is in my opinion.

I like your furniture pieces as a whole more than your wall paper. So I'd go in that direction.

laybabylay.com has some fantastic inspiration boards and real rooms that will work perfectly for a camping/ mid-century room.

The Skip crib by Babyletto would be perfect too. Here's a picture of it with the 3 in 1 features displayed..

Hey y'all,

I know I may be getting a bit ahead of myself here but M and I have already started talking nursery. Since I will be repurposing my vintage Heywood Wakefield furniture for the nursery (it was my grandparents) I need to start thinking fabric for the settee and give my reupholster guy some time to do the work, our last project took over 2 months. Also we have someone close to us moving and in need of all new furniture and will be giving them our guest room furniture and the room will be empty.

So I need to get started on a general look and would love some help. I think I'm decided on the Stokke Sleepi crib in natural since it goes well with my furniture. We went and looked at it yesterday and are happy with it.

We are team green, so there is no gender to consider. Right now we have really awesome teal/gold wallpaper up on one wall and long white gauzy curtains. When I designed the guest room I wanted it to look like a high end hotel room. The colors compliment the furniture we are using. The walls are cream. We would not have to change much, I would use grey as an accent color. I figure it's a great room for a baby, and if we have a boy we can redecorate at a year or two.

So my husband suggested doing something a little more rustic/fitting to our 1910 home. We love traveling and drive a 1978 green VW pop top. I thought a loose camping/Pendleton look would be really awesome- I just had a chair of M's reupholstered with a Pendleton blanket and love it. This look could work for a boy or girl.

If we opted to do the latter, I think it would be a bit expensive and take more time/planning, but I love the idea.

What do you think?

The first photo is the dresser which will serve as storage/changing table

The second is the settee which currently lives in my office. My Mom gave me that Pendleton baby blanket for Christmas when I complimented my nephews at Thanksgiving

The thirs is the existing guest room wallpaper/paint color

The forth is the chair I had done for M, if we went for the camping look then we would likely up use the same fabric on the settee.

The last photos is my VW just for fun;)
