@BadgerMom: thanks, I didn't even know that was an option and I might have to give that a try. I think that's going to work better than going to a lighter color. I think I can get away with a peach color as well (more orange) since the bed skirt does come off that way.

@LuLu Mom: I totally understand, I not a baby pink person either. I would make sure the ones you pick to try out have a lot of orange tone in them. That should help it from looking too baby pink.

Oh and sometimes going up the card to a lighter color doesn't work the way you think it would because the colorant proportions aren't the same. I've had better luck picking a darker color that I like and having them mix it at 25% or 50%, that way it has the same proportion of colorants just in a lesser amount.

@LuLu Mom: Oh that's such a lovely crib skirt. What I would do is bring that in and ask them to color match it and then reduce the intensity by like 100%. That way the wall color will coordinate and off set the skirt but it won't be overly matchy.

@Meowkers: The only part of the bedding that is coral is the crib skirt, I will be getting new sheets (the originals are stretched out from DD) and they will be cream/taupe/gold accents. This is the bedding: http://www.cocalo.com/item.asp?id=1452&brand=6&g=1&coll=&cat=1 however as I've mentioned we won't be using anything but the skirt this round.

The colors are Cream, Gold, with coral walls and brown furniture. All artwork/pictures will be in gold or cream frames, might have touches of coral but mostly will be gold/bronze.

If you are planning on having coral bedding then i would not paint the walls coral. That's very matchy matchy in my opinion. What other colors are you using in the room?

@BadgerMom: I will be buying 3 different samples, and give them a try. I'll give a lighter tone a chance as well, I just don't do baby pink so I think that's my biggest fear! I want elegant not nursery.

I would definitely spend the time and money and get some sample pots. That is definitely an intense color.

It's been my experience when your looking for paint that is an actual color (not a neutral), that if it looks like the perfect color on the swatch it is WAY to bright on the walls. If the swatch looks like a blah muted version of what you're picturing in your head then it ends up being the perfect color on the walls.

@Mamaof2: @Banana330: I wish the accent wall was a choice, but we already have that done with the crackle wall and I just can't give it up. It was done by the people who lived here before us (way above my talent level) and it's just too cool to replace it. So I want that for the accent and need to find something for the other 3 walls.

I've never thought about a 1/2 tint, that could be an option too. I'm not really a painter, so I'm clueless on what they can do.

@LuLu Mom: you might be able to get them to do a half tint too... ask at the store, they might be able to recommend a shade that is lighter but reads coral.

Paradise peach is nice too...

We went for SW lighter mint, it looks almost white when rolling on but in real life it's quite mint.

I agree it would be an awesome accent wall with cream for the other three?

I think that would look better as an accent wall - its really pretty but might be too much to have 3 walls that color

@Banana330: I think Blushing Brilliance might be too "baby pink" for me, but I'm starting to look at Paradise Peach and maybe that will be better. The more I look at Coral Reef the more it hurts my eyes. I plan on buying a couple samples, but really want to have the painting done this weekend.

@LuLu Mom: it looks like a pretty intense colour but it depends on your taste... can you get sample pots? I learned the hard way they are the best things ever! It took quite a few shades the first time but since then i'm better at gaging how colours will read in my house.

I would try blushing brilliance which is a few shades lighter.. it will still go with the coral but won't be quite so in your face. if you want to do a shelf or basket or pillow in Coral reef to help tie it in.

it sounds pretty to me! You could always do one step lighter down the color fan if you are nervous but it sounds like you have plenty of windows/doors and accessories to break up the color. Are the floors wood or carpet?

I'm planning on knocking out LO2 nursery painting this weekend. I'm starting to second guess myself & need to know if it's warranted or if I'm being crazy :)

As of now I'm planning on one cream colored "crackled" wall (full wall crib will be against it) this wall is existing and I just love it. For the other 3 walls I'm planning on painting coral. This will include 1 full wall (changing table that will have gallery wall above it), and 2 partial walls (big window on one & closet on the other.)

Will this be too much coral? This is the color I'm planning on going with, but I don't want it to be "in your face" and I don't want it to come off pink. Our bedding is coral which is why I'm going with this color, I'm reusing LO1 bedding.

Crib, dresser, shelf are all espresso brown, and we have a cream colored big overstuffed chair that will be in the corner between window/closet wall.

http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/coralreef

If this color is too bright, any suggestions on a lighter but still coral color?
