Ugh. I can’t answer the question but my nine month old will nurse several times per night (I’ve tried nursing 1 minute less and she just wakes more frequently so I’ve given up and we cosleep half the night). But during the day it’s like pulling teeth getting her to nurse. It’s super frustrating because my older daughter loved nursing and this one just wants food! She’s amazing with chewing and swallowing but it’s just not possible to get her to eat enough without nursing! Bah!

If I’m lucky she’ll nurse between 5-6am, then before both naps, then at bed. Realistically what happens is she’ll nurse just long enough to give me a let down, then try to crawl away. So I try 5-6x per day but she’ll probably nurse twice.

Both my kids did 4-5 starting around 7 or so months. No night feeds. My 8 month old is on 5 consistently right now, which is about every 3 hours during the day. I can’t get anymore in.

@winniebee: ha! just reminds me to try to find my own posts this next time around.

but to answer your question, both girls were on 2 naps and we did the EASY routine. so 1 feed in the morning upon waking up, 2 after each nap and another before bed. S mostly STTN and R would wake up 1 time, so 4-5 times sounds about right to me!

DD is almost 9 months, refuses bottles, and has been slow-ish on solids (purees and table food 3x a day but what she consumes can be hit or miss). She nurses first thing in the morning, before bed, and then 3-4 other times per day depending on how early she wakes up. I track her feedings on BabyConnect and in the past 7-10 days she cut her overall time nursing down pretty drastically so your experience sounds right to me!

My second baby nurses less at nine months than my first did. She is a much more efficient nurser, though, so I think that’s largely why.

I have very little memory of how often DS2 nursed at 9 months. I know he woke a few times a night so I feel like it was at least 6-7 times in 24 hours. G is 9 months and we recently got through a bad illness and nursing strike, but nursing is a little different now. He sort of needs to be coaxed into nursing, doesn't really want to nurse to sleep, etc. He mostly STTN, so will nurse when he wakes up, before both naps (if I'm lucky), and then before bed. I usually can get him to nurse a little before dinner, but it's usually not a good session. So, this is like 4.5 nursing sessions in 24 hours. He's into solids, but mostly finger foods, so of course I never know 100% what he's heating. He is a very happy kid. Does this seem normal?
