My son bit me only twice. My recommendation is to not scream or to make sudden movements because your LO can get scared and refuse to latch. You have to try (I know...it's hard!!) to stay calm and just say No...No... and if she does it again just stop the feeding saying no. It worked for me! Good luck!

DD got her first tooth at four months. She didn't really bite until she was older, maybe around 10 months when she had 8 teeth.
She only bit a handful of times usually when she was done eating anyway.

I had one day after his four front teeth came in where LO would bite down and clamp his mouth. When I removed him he would cry and not re-latch. I cut one session short and pumped/bottle fed for one session. LO has not bitten me since, in almost a month, and he still has the four teeth at 10.5 months.

for some reason i wasn't so worried about this, i just wanted her to get her teeth already so she would be out of pain. well, she got her first 2 teeth and OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!! she bit me hard a few times this week. but, she hasn't done it in 24 hours or so, so i'm hopeful she just was getting used to the teeth (fingers crossed!) :)

C would bit a few times with each of her first four teeth- like a few times a day for one or two days, then she would usually stop. These last two teeth she hardly did. With the first two I really was scared that t was going to be the end of enjoyable nursing, but it passed. I found I had to really watch her a when she seemed like she was almost done with one side an nt very actively swallowing, it was time to quickly switch her or end the session before she started playing around. After a few days of being extra mindful I could go back to normal.

I've gotten bitten a few times, but it was more because he was comfort sucking than actuall nursing so he'd chomp down. If he was strictly nursing, he's never bitten me. I've always never felt his teeth while nursing.

DS got teeth around the same time. His bottom teeth I never had an issue with. He's now got 5 teeth and I've been bit 3 times, it's when he's distracted that he does it. I immediately set him down and he's figured out that he can't do that if he wants to nurse.

LO got his first teeth around 5 or 6 months I think. He never bit me until several months later. It was pretty bad for a week or two, then got better by ignoring it and pulling away when he did. I found the key to stop biting was not to yelp in pain or have any big reaction as that would reinforce him. I would just calmly say "no biting"

@Running Elley: M is 11 months and has only bitten me twice (she currently has 6 teeth). Now that her top central incisors are almost fully in, though, I sometimes have tooth marks/indentations on my areola after nursing....it doesn't hurt but it also doesn't feel great!

My daughter bit me one time right after her second tooth came in, but it was when she was done with active eating and was just sort of 'lingering.' When they're eating, their tongues cover up their teeth.

After that one time, I started trying to notice when she was done eating and stop the nursing session and she never did it again.

K got her first teeth at 6 months, and at 10 months has 6. The only time she has bitten me has been when a new tooth is about to break through- she bites a few times for maybe one nursing session, and then adjusts.

I was terrified of what teething would mean for breastfeeding, but 6 teeth later, it was really not a big deal at all.

LO got his first two teeth at 4m old. They wasn't really any biting involved. I noticed though because my very sensitive nipples noticed every little change really quickly. Not to say it hurt - I just felt that something was different. My nipples were like a "new tooth seismograph".

I've only been bitten three times. The first one was so delicate and cute, but it didn't hurt much and I said"No Biting." The other two hurt like hell and I screeched and ended the nursing session because my philosophy is that if she is biting, she isn't hungry. She hasn't bitten me since. H has six teeth.

She didn't bite me when she first got teeth. I only knew because her latch changed a teeny tiny bit and there was a little but if scraping. Not painful though. The latch went back to normal in a day or two. She only bit me a couple times but they were unrelated to teething.

@Running Elley: Alexis had teeth at four months and she went through several biting phases but they passed! You might find that E's latch changes as she adjusts to the new teeth (which can be uncomfortable) and she probably will bite once or twice but she'll soon work out that she can't nurse and bite at the same time.

Keep an eye out for biting towards the end of a nursing session and I had success with putting A down and walking away as soon as she bit me.

My DD is 7.5 months old and I think she's going to be cutting her first teeth any day. She's been teething like crazy and I can see them ready right there.

She's still EBF and I'm scared! When your LO got their first teeth did you figure it out before a nursing session? I'm worried that I'll just pull her into bed to nurse and have a horrible surprise! Did you have to deal with biting right away? Basically I just want an idea of how it all usually goes.
