We decreased the number of minutes nursing slowly/decreased the ounces in bottle slowly at night so DS would get used to not eating at night once we thought he was waking up to nurse because he was just used to eating then. But he was closer to one.

@jetsa: always around 2am and then another around 5 or so. I try not to nurse him otherwise. But sometimes he gets up 6x a night and I can't just make DH do all the wake ups save 2. I feel like he's all over the place, though. He'll give us a few good nights, then 5 bad nights, then a few good ones. So I wonder if he's actually hungry or what. DH didn't give him a bottle yesterday and waited for me to get home, so I fed him at 11:00. He almost always goes down easily but the wake ups are hit and miss

@blackbird: do you nurse him at night at all? I've debated whether she needs it because she's gone all night before. Right now and I haven't been consistent yet which I'm sure isn't helping i don't feed until 1 and she's still getting up a stupid amount of times

Sleep is kind of a shitfest over here from 3-6 months and I hope it goes away soon! I send DH in a low and let T fuss for longer periods of time so he's learning to settle without me nursing him. Kinda sucks for him, but he's getting up 5-6 times a night on a bad night, and that ain't gonna fly

We got rid of night wakings by spending a few weeks with DH going in every time she woke up, replacing her pacifier, soothing her. I decided if she was crying after 4am any night then I would feed her. That worked for a while but teething, vaccinations, growth spurts, travel, etc. have all disrupted the pattern. This past week, LO got her first two teeth, her first diaper rash, and her first cold. Suffice to say I was up three times feeding her last night. Zzzzzzz....

@RLCeigh: Hmm, that sounds like something to try... thanks!

The weird thing is she will put herself to sleep the first time... at 7:30 or 8 I put her down in the bed awake and she falls asleep on her own. So maybe she is actually hungry, I don't know!

I was going to say maybe sleep training since you mentioned her waking up seems more out of habit than actual hunger.

Being tired is so hard!
We did some 'sleep training' @5 months and my LO was waking (at least) twice to eat too. So I set my alarm to wake him up before he would cry for me (so 12:45 and then 3:45- I know sounds awful!) and I would feed him. I gradually moved the 2 times closer together so I got it down to once a night to feed him. If he fussed any other time, I didn't nurse him. In less than 2 weeks I was down to once a night and then no night wakings at all. The trick was being very consistant.
Good luck!

No advice. My babies both wake up during the night and I assume it's just a normal thing. But I commiserate at the "so tired" comment!!! I'm sorry!

Anything work for you to reduce MOTN wake ups while nursing?

My baby slept from about 10pm to 6am from 2-3m of age, but from 3-5m, she's been going to bed around 7:30-8pm and then waking up 2x before 7am. She definitely wants to nurse. She seems to be waking up sort of habitually, usually around 1am and 4am. I don't really know how much is true hunger and how much is habit. I assume she is sort of reverse cycling, since I went back to work at 3m, but her wake ups are the same over the weekend. Dream feeds at 10 or 11pm before I go to sleep don't seem to help... she still wakes up at 1am.

She is 85th% for weight and 90%+ for height. She isn't getting solids yet...

I am soooo tired! Any advice?! My older daughter woke up at least once a night until 1.5 years (and actually still wakes up some nights), but 1x is a lot easier to manage than two. Often I go to bed at 11, nurse from 1-1:30, then nurse again from 4-4:30, then I'm up at 5:45 for the day.
