The Royce did run small in the band. I had to adjust both band and cup size from what I normally wear. My Royce bra is a 34H (UK), while I normally wear a 32GG (UK).

@sapphireriver: Did you find your Royce bra to run very small in the band? I saw several Amazon reviews complaining about it, but I know a lot of women probably prefer a looser band than I do.

@sapphireriver: I plan on it! I didn't know about Panache last time I was nursing, but my favorite bra between then and now was from them. I didn't realize they tend to be narrower across the board, good to know.

@newlypregnantlady: I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm at Target. Fortunately last time around I was able to tolerate underwire after 2 or 3 months pp, so I only really need to figure out a softcup solution to bridge that gap. Doesn't make them any easier to come by though!

I am a 32 band size, somewhere around a GG cup, and cheap to a fault (therefore I do not currently own any great fitting bras). I also have gone from a 34DDD/F to a 34J to now being a 32GGish. And I can’t handle underwire while nursing because it just digs in and my breasts just change size too much during any given day.

My current solution is to buy bras that fit 70% okay and then sew the band smaller. Obviously if you’re spending $80 on a bra you may not want to do this. But I have fairly good luck fitting into one specific bra at Target and some Pea in the Pods sleep bras that I have sewn smaller.

https://www.target.com/p/playtex-174-women-s-simply-sized-wireless-bra-p844/-/A-14085603#lnk=sametab

Don’t look at the sizing guide, just go try it on. I have it in a L and a M and while it’s not the greatest support in the world, I have taken about 3ish inches off the band and it’s comfortable and stretchy enough that I just pop my breast out over the top and nurse with no problems.

So my advice is maybe to try taking whatever bra you find that fits well enough in the cup and isn’t too crazy big in the band and just sew the band smaller. Obviously it’s not the greatest solution in the world but i have found I can take up to 3-4in off a band before I start noticing things are getting weird.

If the Freya/Fantasia bras' underwire are too wide, then you should definitely try some Panache nursing bras. I need the wider underwire and I've found Panache underwire to be too narrow for me, so I bet it'd work for you.

I am wearing a 34H by Anita. It seems a little loose, but apparently, my band size went up after I started nursing. It is an underwire bra.

At 13 months pp, I am back to a 32F.

@Iced Tea: Eh, I'm willing to give it a chance given how few options there are in my size. I've become much more tolerant of unpadded bras over the past year and a half b/c they often just fit me better in the underwire. And with boobs like mine, if they're not flattened to the side then they end up sticking straight out. C'est la vie. Thanks for the heads up though.

@LCTBQE: I hope you have more luck than I have. It seems like so many of the brands that offer a 30 band (and there aren't many) only go up to a US G cup, if that far. Hope some of those can work you!

@sapphireriver: I'm very familiar with both Pure and Rebecca bras. I wore Pures exclusively for about a year last time around, but in retrospect (confirmed as I'm sitting here wearing a Rebecca at the moment) I know that the underwire is too wide for my shape which gives me a side to side flattened look. I'm largely wearing Rebecca these days out of defeat of needing a new bra every month or so :bummed: It's far from perfect for me, but at least I know what I'm getting. I'll probably end up with at least one Pure in rotation again when I'm back to underwires, but I'm being naively optimistic (aka putting my blinders on when I should know better) about finding something that fits my body a little better. I've never been able to find nursing clothing that fits me either, so your experience with Kindred Bravely gives me hope!

I am a 32GG (UK)/32J (US) and I've nursed 4 babies. My youngest is 11 months old. I have experience with several of the bras and brands you mentioned. The Freya Pure nursing bra is basically the same bra as the Fantasie Rebecca. The lift and shaping is pretty much the same and the sizing is identical. It's not amazing, but better than anything else I've found. The Pure is the nursing bra I recommend most. For my first two kids, I wore Anita 5035 nursing bras and they stretched out pretty badly with use. I have a Royce Lauren nursing bra and it's best non-underwire nursing bra that I've found, though I still prefer underwire. I have not tried Kindred Bravely's bras, but I did get one of their nursing nightgowns before I had my 4th baby and it's been the only nursing nightgown that's actually worked with my big boobs.

I can relate. It's so hard to find small band sizes with large cups. And the expense is painful.

I can't tell you much you don't already know, except that the Anita Fleur in 30H was the most hilarious bullet bra I have ever seen in real life.

@Pumuckl: I'm planning on trying out Royce (just learned about them this week) and had not heard of Lorna Drew. Having trouble finding my size at the moment, but hopefully I can turn something up when I have time for a more intensive search. Thanks for the tip!

@raspberries: I'd never heard about Emma Jane either, thanks! Looks promising as long as the band doesn't run too big. So nice not to be the largest cup size on the chart for once!

If your "no" on Le Mystere bras was based off one or two styles you might not need to discount them all. I have one Le Mystere bra that I  love  .

I always hope that some of their others will fit similarly...but they are NOTHING alike. The bands consistently run small (sometimes a little, sometimes a lot), but the cup size and shape is never the same.

Which isn't exactly something to recommend the brand...but desperate times, desperate measures.

@jape14: You're preaching to the choir on giving things a chance. Believe me, I've wasted a lot of time and money on said frogs over the past few years on my continuous quest to find a decent fitting bra! (Won't these darn things just pick a size and stay there, lol). Unfortunately the large difference in the Rosie Pope cup sizes and my cup size makes it highly unlikely to work for me :bummed:

@nanilani: I don't find their size chart to be particularly accurate. for what it's worth, I'm a 32 band and the medium fits me perfectly (not even on the tightest setting) - or as well as a wireless bra sized S/M/L possibly can. I also didn't love the bravado body silk so I think you'll find it's a personal preference thing and you may have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the right one.

@jape14: I just looked at their available sizes and it doesn't run anywhere close to what I need unfortunately. Smallest band is a 34 which is almost certainly too large, but even if that fit the largest cup is a D. The "equivalent" sister size would be a 30F, or 4 cups too small (and really sister sizes only work +/- one band size). Thanks anyway!

@Pollywog: @crazydoglady: I haven't tried that one yet. I was scared off by the fact that it'd be at least two cup sizes too small, and that was before I bought the Essentials Embrace that runs a size or two small in the cup. So I could be looking at 3+ cup sizes too small? But your vouching for it from personal experience is helpful! I see Amazon offers free returns on it, so I guess it's worth a shot.

I've never had a bra band taken in before, but I know once you go beyond one band size up sister sizing gets tricky b/c the geometry changes. Like even if the volume is technically the same in a 30J and a 34H, the 34H is usually shallower and wider to fit a larger rib cage. So the cups would extend much further under the arms than they should after taking the band in and probably would not follow the breast root. I'd need a pretty narrow set bra which can be hard to come by (unless you live in Poland). So I'd probably want to exhaust any and all options in a 30 or 32 band first before taking that financial risk of altering a larger band on a pricey bra.

@nanilani: @Pollywog: I was going to say the same! I would definitely try the bravado body silk seamless bra if you haven't. I did not care for their underwire options.

I know you said no bravado, but have you tried the bravado body silk? I am a similar bra size and that's the only bra that worked for me from second trimester to a year post partum. I wear a medium and it's ugly, but it gets the job done.

An alternate idea, can you get the band of a 34 DDD taken in?

Does anyone have any recommendations for small band/huge cup nursing bras?? Particularly any wireless bras for the early days postpartum? I can find a few underwire bras in my size that I plan on trying, but seem to be at least a cup size larger than any of the wireless options. I'm still open to trying those that are one cup size too small, but I'm pessimistic about dumping $$ on them if they're already too small before my milk ever comes in.

I consider myself fairly well educated on bra fitting, but am at a loss as to where to go when no one seems to sell my size! Unfortunately that also means I have little tolerance for ill-fitting bras  I'm a stickler for a tight band (don't worry, I know to ensure breast tissue is not being compressed to avoid clogged ducts). I read /abrathatfits on Reddit but have not found much help there (nursing bras are not their specialty).

I'm going to throw out a LOT of info in hopes anyone can use it to provide good advice:

I'm currently wearing a Fantasie Rebecca 30GG(UK)/30J(US) at 7 months pregnant. Pre-pregnancy I was wearing a Panache Envy 30FF(UK)/30H(US). Already up 2 cup sizes. Bottom- and center-full.

1st Pregnancy: Started out with a VS 32DDD (but also had little clue how a bra was supposed to fit then so may have been the wrong size), eventually settled out to a Freya Pure 30G while nursing (though I was probably larger before my supply regulated). So went up at least 2-3 cup sizes. I started off with Bravado S++ bras, which have been discontinued and weren't very supportive anyway. Post-nursing I wore Panache Envy 30FF (absolutely loved these, but don't seem to fit my shape as well since I've been pregnant :bummed: ).

I generally need a size 30 band in most brands. I know about sister sizing and sometimes can make a size 32 work, but when I have to start on the tightest hooks, the band stretches out and becomes unsupportive too quickly. I hate having to replace a $60-70+ bra within a month or two. If you know from experience that a particular brand runs small in the band, I'd love to hear about it (even if it's on my "please don't recommend" list below)!

Please do not recommend (this list is so long I want to cry):
- Cake (Only makes one underwire bra in my size (Waffles). I plan on trying it anyway even though I'm already at their largest cup size)
- Bravado (Currently own a 32J/K Essentials Embrace which is their smallest band/largest cup combo. I already have to wear it on the tightest hook and the cup is a little too small.)
- Hotmilk
- Coobie
- Le Mystere
- Natori
- Cosabella
- Chantelle
- Wacoal
- Elomi
- Felina
- La Leche League
- Anything from Motherhood or A Pea In The Pod

Bras already on my radar to try (Any experience here on sizing for these particular bras?):
- Cake Waffles 30J
- Freya Pure 30GG (I wore this almost exclusively in 30G last time around. Doesn't give me a great shape, but if it gets the job done then so be it.)
- Panache Sophie 30GG (Cautiously optimistic about this one. Wireless and my favorite pre-pregnancy bra was a Panache.)
- Panache Eleanor 30GG
- Kindred Bravely Simply Sublime in Small-Busty or Medium-Busty (technically should be slightly too small, but crossing my fingers)
- Anita Fleur 30J
- Royce Charlotte 30GG

I know about converting a regular bra to a nursing bra (though I've yet to try it), but soft cup bras in my size are almost exclusively sports bras. Aka very restrictive on large breasts, which is good for high-impact workouts but doesn't sound great for nursing. If you have a rec for a soft cup bra with a more natural fit, I'm all ears!

Any great lingerie boutiques I should know about in the DMV area? My luck with in-person bra fittings has been hit or miss (I've been to Nordstrom and Bra La La).

Any Etsy shops or the like that make unusual bra sizes?

Anything else I may have missed???? (And thank you so much for taking the time to read through all of this brain dump!)
