I layered so you could pull down bottom layer and pull up top layer and you wouldn't be flashing your entire boob. LO nor I were ever a fan of nursing covers so I tried to ensure minimal skin was exposed.

In the winter I bought these tanks with a very elastic neck line from Kohls and wore them under cardigans/sweaters. I liked that the neckline was high and it was loose so it didn't show tummy/cleavage. And then I just wear a lot of button downs! Long sleeve, sleeveless, dresses... Or like others say, the pull up/down 2 shirt thing too.

@LindsayInNY: sorry, that would have been helpful! nursing bra under. I think they can work without anything over top for the most part, but I also wore them a lot with an open cardigan or a button-down blouse. this is the specific style I wore: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=251943782

@jape14: This is stupid but did you wear them alone, a nursing bra under, etc.?

@oliviaoblivia: So regular shirt on top and nursing tank under? I haven't tried the lift up/down method. I've just been pulling my top down.

@travelgirl1: I think that's what I need - just regular tops that can be pulled down.

@SleepyMonkey: That makes sense... A bra plus slit-ed shirts is a lot of stuff to deal with.

@BandDmommy: Just normal, non-nursing shirts on top? Do you lift them up or what?

@Mrs. Champagne: And just let your stomach be visible (or covered under something)?

@Boogs: And no bra?

@blackbird: Those tops look doable with a nursing bra under!

@Mrs. J: I was thinking that too... I noticed a couple moms at the local BFing group all wore dresses or tops that were easy to move to the side.

These Merona favorite v-neck tees from Target are my favorite.

http://www.target.com/p/women-s-favorite-v-tee-merona/-/A-16542869#prodSlot=large_2_7&term=merona+t+shirt

They are stretchy so I can just pull the neckline down and unhook my nursing bra. Or sometimes even wear a coobie bra underneath and just pull both bra and shirt down. They've held up really well and the neckline hasn't stretched out. They run big so size down.

Also like the portofino shirts from Express. There are sleeveless ones. So I just have to undo a couple buttons and unhook my nursing bra.

@GoGoSnoGirl: yes early days I just wore a nursing tank. I couldn't be bothered with any extra layers or things to snap or arrange. Once she got a little bigger and less floppy, and wasn't nursing me every twelve minutes, I did more regular type clothes and nursing bras. But that's also when the weather started cooling down a little so I would also do nursing tank and cardigan or hoodie.

I really like these thin mossino v neck tees from target for $7 each. I don't like the pull up, pull down method, and prefer to just pull a boob up, out of my neckline. I wear these all the time and prefer them to anything else. And they don't scream "nursing tank". Even when they're big and baggy on me, I can tuck them into shorts or wear them to the gym. I have an anita nursing bra I wear with everything right now

I'm mostly wearing a nursing bra w/ t-shirts, but I also have one split top that I am wearing some of the time. Since my nursing bras are what fit these days, though. it feels like a bit much to arrange before getting LO latched before melting down. :silly:

I always just wore tee shirts and nursing bras. I started off with my maternity pants, so my belly was covered, and then I replaced them with high-waisted jeans.

Sometimes I would wear a Bella band to cover my belly, but I never liked nursing tanks at all. For some reason I always felt more exposed pulling down a v-neck than pulling up a tee shirt.
