@Mrsbells: I think the totsy link doesn't work anymore because the sale is now over. It expired last night.

Thanks everyone for your input. I knew I would get some good advice from you all.

I had twins so the normal covers didn't cover both babies. . I got used to using a large blanket. What worked super good was a lite weight sarong, especially in the heat of summer. Now with my singleton I still just use a blanket. I belong to a moms group and one of the mentor mins laughed and said it was nice to see an old fashioned mom who just uses a blanket. I laugh and told iesdbr old fashioned just cheap, I have plenty of blankets and didn't want to buy a cover.

If I was goingto buy one I would go with the apron. None of my four kids ever kept a hay on their headliner than a few minutes

I just used a poncho-style nursing cover that I received at my baby shower. What I liked most about it is that it didn't look like a nursing cover, it looked like a cute top! I actually used to wear it as a regular top from time to time. :)

The hat seems like it would be difficult to stay covered when bringing baby to the breast and removing him from the breast when you're done feeding, which are the 2 times you're most likely to flash a nip anyway. And as pps have said, a lot of babies will take hats off. I use an apron style cover, and I've never found it to be bulky.

I got a really cheap apron style cover (it was free, but then you had to pay shipping). Most of my BF friends use an apron style cover, the others use a blanket, or don't cover. I have never seen anyone use a hat-style cover.

It looks like a lot of those moms on the hat website are holding that hats, which seems to confirm my suspicion that they wouldn't really stay in place for ideal coverage all that well.
I'd go for an apron, hands down.

I have a really light weight cotton apron. I hate using it though. Lo is just now starting to latch so I like being able to watch her easily. Usually I only use it in public if I need to. At home I dint bother unless we have company.

I registered for an apron type one - I feel like the hat would upset a newborn and they would take it off when older!

Yeah, the apron-style ones are the only way to stay covered once they get bigger and squirmy. I fed him at the library the other day and even with the apron thing he was yanking it every which way.

The hats are cute but I prefer the wired nursing covers cause I doubt the hat would provide enough coverage for me. And, like cupcakemama pointed out, it would only work 'til she figured how to pull it off. Plus, it doesn't look like it would fold up smaller than the reg covers. Definitely cute though.

I can imagine LO would rip that hat off! That's what happens every other time a hat is attempted!

I used a cover like an apron. The free one from udder cover. It worked really well. It was light fabric so LO was not getting too sweaty. I found it better than just using a wrap or blanket as little hands found it more tricky to pull the cover off.

I've seen nursing covers that are like aprons. I thought it was a cute idea until I saw Mo Boleez nursing hats on Totsy. (They are on sale now for $13.50.) http://www.totsy.com/sale/mo-boleez

What do you use? The apron like ones or the hat?

This is what it says on their webisite: Mo Boleez http://www.moboleez.com/

✓ Are you worried about breastfeeding out in public and looking for something fun and attractive to cover yourself with?

✓ Are you fussing with dropping blankets and just want something easy that’s going to provide you with the right amount of coverage without being too bulky?

Is this true?

For those of you who used nursing covers are they bulky? Would a hat be better?
