My OB said nursing and pre-term labor concerns aren't even a *potential* issue til around the 3rd tri. My understanding is that the amounts of hormone you secrete while nursing are not enough to cause preterm labor or a miscarriage while in the 1st tri. I did end up miscarrying, and was assured, however, that it was NOT due to nursing. Personally I found I started to feel uncomfortable as pregnancy progressed and did feel contractions, though I don't think they are any different than BH. My LO had just turned 2 though so she was a bit older and I was ready to stop. I was never told to wean. I mentioned it to the OB's office and they didn't say anything. My first appointment isn't until 10w so I will ask then I guess. My sister in law over the weekend seemed very concerned that I would be nursing through pregnancy and suggested I call the doctor. So I did this morning and they recommended that I wean by 16 weeks as nursing can cause pre-term labor or miscarriage. I did quite a bit of research on my own and did not have any intent of stopping soon. I am so frustrated, did anyone else receive this same advice from their doctor? </p>
