I stay at home with my twins and nurse them on demand. They are 20 months and one nurses around 4 times and the other nurses around 6 (although some sessions are pretty short). At 1 they were still being supplemented with bottles so less daytime nursing, but they were up 1-2 (sometimes 3) times each at night.

LO is newly 12 months and she nurses 2 times a day. Right after wake up and then right after daycare. She started daycare just before she turned 11 months so that's when the major switch from 4-5 times a day settled at 2 times.

I can't pump (get basically nothing) so we switche to WCM as soon as she was 12 months.

We had to drop down to one session at a year with DS1, but that was because he was losing weight and we had to up the solids. If weight gain isn't an issue, I say do whatever works for you and your little :)

DD is 15 mos and still nursing 3-4x/day and usually once overnight. With DS I was down to just morning and night by 12 mos but DD refuses any kind of milk besides breast milk so I feel bad if I don't let her.

From 12-14 months she nursed about 4 times a day (with occasional comfort nursing). She quit cold-turkey at 14 months when I got pregnant, so I'm not sure how long we would have gone on at that frequency.

DD is only 9 months but I'm planning to stop pumping when she turns one year, and so at that point we'll nurse at morning wake-up, before bed, and dream feed before DH and I go to sleep. We'll see how that goes, if we wind up needing to wean further or if we can just keep that going, I'd prefer to keep it up for a while if we can.

our nursing decreased at that age, but it was a direct result of me going back to work full time. Up until the day i went back to work at 12.5 months, he was still nursing at least 4 times per day. Then we went through an intense transition where he was reverse cycling and then finally settled to 2 - 3 times and gradually to 2, then 1. we nursed until he was 26 months.

He didn't slow down his nursing until after his second birthday. And I actually found it comforting, because I didn't have to worry about his food intake, nutrition, etc. He's 2.5 now and still nurses in the morning, before nap, and before bed, minimum.

R is 13 months. By 11.5 months I got down to overnight, before both naps, before bed. He was taking whole milk then. By 12 months he was 3x a day (overnight / early morning, before afternoon nap, before bed). By 13 months I had him down to early morning and before bed. Now that he's over 13 months we're down to just before bed. But, I wanted to wean around age 1 and that was my goal starting around 11 months. We'll probably be fully weaned in the next week or two.

I'm all for nursing as long as you are both happy, but I would ask the pediatrician about his solids intake. My thought is that their primary source of nutrition after age 1 should be from food, not milk (breastmilk, formula, or cow's milk) and that cutting down his nursing sessions will help boost his solids intake.

At one she was nursing morning, before naps, after work, before bed, and MOTN. I actively night weaned around 18 months and once I got pregnant when she was 20 months, she gradually lost interest as I dried up. I did have to push her for the final weaning though but it didn't take long.

DD is 13 months and nurses 5 times a day, all during daytime. She has whole milk with meals, 3-4oz per meal right now. Hoping to drop a nursing session or two in the next couple of months.

Once DS turned one,I dropped to nursing him twice a day; first thing in the morning and right before bed. He drank whole milk from a cup with meals once we finished off all the frozen breastmilk. It was a pretty easy transition since he was in daycare full time and drinking from a cup when he was there. He was, also, eating three meals and a snack by the time he turned one.
I hate pumping, and chose to switch him to WCM once he turned one and just replaced when he would normal have breastmilk with WCM

At one, we were nursing about four times a day. With my eldest, I'd nurse him at wake-up, after his naps, and once in the evening. And with my youngest, I'd nurse him at wake-up, and then before his naps and before bed. No overnight nursing for either of them, but they had dropped those fairly early.

My big girl as still nursing pretty frequently at twelve months, probably 5-6 times during the day and once overnight, if I recall. I wouldn't worry about cutting back unless you want to!

How often does or did your 1 year old nurse?

My son nurses a lot but I wonder if I should offer less. He nurses before his naps (two times), before bed, during the night many times (we bed share so I have no idea) and sometimes more times during the day. Sometimes it seems like too much. His solid intake is hit or miss, sometimes he chows down and other times not so much. I never know if it's because he's full of breastmilk or just normal toddler stuff.
