I'm on baby center and so many of the posts at 5 months were about baby unable to focus on boob. I think they just all of sudden realize what an exciting world is around them. It gets better though, it's a new stage from the more complacent newborn, and now they have to get their silly's and exploring out sometimes. So she was fussy for nursing and poo poo'd the bottle. (This wasn't for long but even a day or two is annoying of having baby fussy about eating).</p> <p>So I ended up just putting some pumped milk on a spoon and she freaking went ballistic, she loved it. We also started letting her taste solids around that time. It wasn't anything major but if I had a banana I'd just smush it between my finger tips and let her tentatively try a bit. My husband took over feeding her from a spoon once a day of pumped milk just because she seemed to love spoons so much. If she started fussing at the breast I stopped nursing and tried holding her hands and letting her walk around or do something active. And then a little later we'd try nursing again. She's 6 1/2 months now and gets maybe one ounce of solids a day so still mostly breastfeeding and hasn't done that fussing for like a month. But she wont even try, so its not like she latches on and lets go. I dont know. Im REALLY hoping its just a strike and she goes back to normal soon. Like the comment "who cares? just pump and bottle feed, shes still getting the milk" or "so give her formula" to "shes probably too hungry for just milk now, give her solids!" He would latch and they just cry and cry popping on and off repeatedly. No fever, no rubbing of his face or ears, no ear drainage, etc. However, if Liv had ear pain last month then you are right, maybe not the same. She seems to get frustrated that she has to wait for a letdown with me, so maybe thats why. I only ask because when my son started getting them it was very painful for him to lay on his side so nursing was pretty much a no-go. On Saturday, she suddenly just decided to stop nursing, even for comfort and even when shes super sleepy. She gets mad and pushes me away and screams. The only thing that seems to work is at bedtime, bottle feeding her pumped milk in a nursing position then quickly taking the bottle out and having her latch on, but she will only do that if shes super sleepy and some of the times, she realizes what happened and gets mad. She has done this when she had ear pain from teething, but even then she WANTED to nurse, it just hurt her. </p> <p>I doubt she is weaning herself as it is sudden and not gradual, but its emotionally killing me... We did have a lot of visitors this weekend, maybe thats it? I dont know. It could also be her preferring the flow of the bottle (shes on Tommee Tippee, still infant nipples to keep the flow slow.) Any suggestions though? I </p>
