LO woke up with a stuffy nose and was sick and refused to nurse- anytime I tried she cried and cried and would only take a bottle. I pumped and gave her bottles, hoping once she felt better she would nurse again. Nursing strikes typically last 6-10 days. Unfortunately for us, she hasn't wanted to nurse since and it has been about a month :/ I try once a day just for shi*ts and giggles, but she just looks at me with a smile on her face like, "mom really? when are you going to give up?" haha. I hope for you the outcome is different and your LO picks up nursing again once they are better! Just keep pumping in the meantime if you want to maintain your supply. To stop it, I would start with a bottle and then once he relaxed mid feed I could pop it out and put him to my chest and he'd continue to nurse. And suddenly stopping like that indicates a strike. You can pump to maintain your supply in the meantime, and try nursing when he's drowsy or try doing a dream feed since those sometimes work even when kids are usually refusing to actually nurse.
