I wouldn't call it a full nursing strike but DS definitely reacted to my first period (I think the supply dip). I just guzzled mothers milk tea and tried not to make a big deal about it. He went back to normal in a day or two.

The milk can taste different when your period comes back, and your supply can also take a dip in the beginning and end of your cycle. Maybe she is sensing something is different? Just keep trying mama!

It's probably just coincidence I think. Nursing strikes can happen for a whole slew of reasons, but I've never heard of it being caused by a period.

ETA: It could be you "smell" different to LO because of your period? Maybe? Never heard of that happening before but that is my best guess. I'd look in to other reasons LO could be refusing the breast before jumping to that.

So I am hoping its just a coincidence and I am writing this post for nothing, but has your baby ever had a nursing strike during your period? Twice today when I have tried to nurse, LO has just refused, pushing away and crying hysterically. Both times we went and did something else and then tried again later, but still nope. She should be hungry....it had been about 4 hours since she had last nursed. I just went to the bathroom and I see that I got my first period PP, GREAT. LO is 7 months old, we've had a pretty easy breastfeeding relationship, and she has always refused bottles, so she can't be refusing because of that! Any other ideas??

Oh, edited to add.....she like basically hasn't nursed since 1230, and even at that time, it wasn't a full feed. If this continues, any ideas what to do?
