@nana87: That photo! So cute!

Great that you’re pumping through the nursing strike! LO1 got HFM at 9mo and didn’t want to nurse, so I ended up drying up. Newbie that I was, I didn’t think to pump through it to keep up my supply.

@snowjewelz: oh totally, w lo1 I stopped pumping and still kept nursing for a long time. I only pump bc usually lo2 takes a bottle at school before nap still. But now she’s refusing a bottle too— but she will drink breast milk from a straw lol. I *think* it’s just the hfm but she’s mostly acting normal now so idk!!

Pic of the breast milk via straw bc ridiculous lol

I stopped pumping at 12 months and I still have milk at 18 months, so I feel like you don't have to keep pumping anyway!

I also know mine gets fussy when she's teething so maybe it's that too? I wish mine would self wean lol!

@bhbee: ooh sounds similar! If she’s really ready then I guess I’ll be okay weaning now, it just is taking me by surprise like you said! My first weaned at 22 m— I had a miscarriage and it was hurting like hell to nurse through it. I didn’t have a plan for when to wean this time though not pumping at work would be great!

Not exactly the same but my 13mo went on strike when sleep training (he was so messed up from bad sleeping while previously sick that he probably felt equally icky to actually still being sick). He did nurse maybe one more time but that was just it for him. With my first it was a more natural progression to stop at 18m so it took me by surprise and made me a little sad. I think every kid is just different anyway, but I’d say if you might want to wean it’s a good opening to try ... if not I bet you will keep some milk for a while anyway.

Normally when my lo2 is sick, she wants to nurse more, and lo1 was the same way as a nurseling. but she’s been on a nursing strike since last Thursday when she started showing signs on hfm :bummed: she is 16 months though so maybe she’s just weaning??? I keep pumping just in case she wants to nurse again, but ugh!!

Has anyone else experienced this? Did your kiddo start nursing again when they felt better?
