@anonysquire: such a cute photo! Thanks for sharing!

@BandDmommy: I got pregnant while breastfeeding and m/c but got pregnant again quickly with a sticky baby. I nursed my son until he was 19 months (I was about 16 weeks pregnant) but then stopped. Sorry to hear about your losses and good luck!!

@Cole: I'm nursing a 2.5 year old (once a day) and a newborn and I've still got sore nipples but my milk is in 2-3 days faster and they're healing already. I'm not quite coordinated enough to feed both at once yet though...

@BandDmommy: is it possible that it's just about the balance of hormones at this point in time? Like maybe you have the right mix to ovulate but not to correctly implant or develop?

@BandDmommy: I don't want to pretend I know anything about nursing while pregnant and miscarriages but it worked for me? I don't know why. I'm so sorry for you though! I didn't have an issue and was told that I could keep it up unless o started experiencing pretty term labor. My period did come back at 10 weeks pp so maybe I have high levels oF hormones?

@Cole: actually I thought I wouldn't go through it. Although for me it wasn't really rough either times. My babies were born knowing how to eat apparently? But I figured he wouldnt lose weight since my milk was in but he lost over 10 percent and then 3 days after birth I was super engorged even though my milk was already there. So weird!!! But I'm pretty sure he started off drinking like 2 or 3 ounces haha. I don't know if that's bad or what? But I was surprised!

You are super woman! Nice work mama!

Can I ask am odd question? It seems many people go through that rough patch with nursing in the beginning with each baby, did you get to skip it since you were never done? Maybe it has more to do with the new baby needing to learn proper latch?

@anonysquire: Yay! Glad it's working out! My twins have rediscovered their love of tandem nursing, mostly because my son is impatient and knows how to lift up my shirt. I still mostly nurse them one at a time, but I do tandem nurse at naps and if we're playing on the floor and they need a snack. Things have gotten pretty acrobatic lately, but I'm loving it since I thought my days of tandem nursing were over when they got too big for my nursing pillow. My favorite is the way they interact when nursing. My daughter especially likes to stroke my son's arms or head when they're both eating. He usually swats her hands away though, haha!

Anyone else tandeming and loving it?

I dried up at around 17 weeks but my lo was almost two and she's been happy to continue dry nursing 2-3 times a day. My only advise would be to keep an eye on your lo's weight gain as the baby of a friend of mine (10 months) lost over a pound as her milk dried up and before they could find another milk source baby would drink.

As for tandem nursing, check out the blog Kate Surfs, the author writes about tandem nursing her two girls.

I'm sure you're fine if you've made it that far. I nursed until I was 3-4 months pregnant and the. dried up but only had a few more months before giving birth and nursing the second one was such a breeze. Not sure about tandem nursing though! Maybe pump for z and nurse the new baby?

My midwife said to make sure you are getting at least 1800mg of calcium. I don't intend to tandem nurse, but I am almost 12 weeks and still nursing my 14 month old once a day. I would drink lots of water and get lots of calcium because you have two babies draining you!

I'm 29 weeks and still nursing the heck out of my 10 month old. Am I safe to assume that I won't dry up if I've made it this far? Or am I being naive?

Also, any tips on tandem nursing?
