@plantains: no, never. When she was in her infant seat and we had it with us we would buckle it in but that was rare. I think we did that only a handful of times. We have the UBV and she HATED her seat so we didn't use the adapter with it. Now that she is 15 months, we can't carry her convertible seat everywhere. I either wear her in my ring sling or now hold her on my lap tightly. NYC has a loophole to the law that if a baby is in a cab, a carseat isn't required. I know it sounds terrifying. :o)

@LivsMama: random question, do you use the carseat all the time when you take Liv about in taxis?

I have been several times but this is the first for my husband and daughter so I am trying to think of a few things he will appreciate. I love the city and can't wait to go back. We are staying in the east midtown area I think. Rockefeller Plaza area.

@JordansMommy: I've done top of the rock and top of the Empire State Building. Definitely cool, but its kinda like just the view and that's it.

I live here and with Liv I take cabs most of the time. If you know the subway system or have a map and can navigate, the subway isn't a bad choice. Just make sure you hold her close because the trains to the popular destinations can get pretty crowded. Private car gets pricey, I'd skip that. What neighborhood are you staying in?

Thank you! My daughter is ALL girly and princess so the tea will be a big hit! A friend at work recommended top of the rock, have you tried that? What about transportation? What are your thoughts on taxi, subway, or private cars?

Yes! its PACKED in December, but its the best time of year to go. Im guessing you'll want to see the tree at Rock Center. Try to stay away from Radio City Music Hall as you approach the tree because shows are constantly going on (and thus letting out), and trying to navigate on that street is a NIGHTMARE. It gets a bit worse once it starts getting dark as well.

The Christmas Wonderland at Macy's is pretty incredible, but be prepared to wait in line for a bit.

Take a walk down Fifth Ave. Start up in the low 50s and walk up toward Central Park. The windows are amazing, and once you get to Central Park you'll see all the horse drawn carriages (which are pretty darn cool to a toddler.) Take a walk in Central Park too. The Wollman Ice Skating Rink is right there, as is the Central Park Zoo. They have a pretty awesome penguin exhibit.

There are also skating rinks at Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park.

The Museum of Natural History is pretty awesome. LO might like the dinosaurs and stuff. Plus it can be free

If LO is a girly girl or likes Eloise, visit the Plaza Hotel (right at the entrance to Central Park on 5th Ave) and you can see where Eloise "lives." They do a tea and lunch too, but she might be a little young for that. But the rooms are all girly and pink and my friend's daughter LOVED it when she was 3.

The Palace Hotel has a gorgeous courtyard with lots of trees decorated. Great for photos. Last time I was there it was covered in scaffolding though. Thats also where they film Gossip Girl

American Girl Store and FAO Schwartz (again, both on 5th Ave =o) ) FAO is a MUST! Its directly across 5th Ave from the Plaza and right next to the Central Park Entrance (theres a ton to do right in that spot)

Ill add as I think of other things!
